Challenges are to get noticed, downloaded and then continued usage and retention! What shall be your strategy to cover all aspects?

Building a successful app demands a good strategy at various levels.

Following are the key phases of App development lifecycle which, with lot of ingredients lead to a good App-

Stage 1Problem/Solution Statement

Key Questions-• What’s the key objective of your app?• Are you solving a problem? • Does the NEED exists?• Making users’ lives easier? • Entertaining them? • Saving them money?

Most importantly, what kind of similar solutions exist in market? How will you differentiate?

Note down all the key pain areas of your expected users and how app solves those pain areas!

Done with problem/solution evaluation and market research? Next big challenge lies in MONETIZATION?How would app make money? Ad based model? Paid or Freemium?Read here for challenges associated with respective models=http://www.finoit.com/blog/how-to-build-a-successful-mobile-app/

Stage 2Design

Have you ever been blown away by the experience you had while using an app?

User Experience(UX) is the key.

Makes it easy to use and eliminates any “How to use the app” kind of learning curve.

To achieve the goal you need to hire a good UX design team & the whole approach to the development should be user centric where business & development goals should align with user’s goal.

Stage 3Development, Testing and Launch

There are many challenges & questions app owner generally face while developing applications.

Should we use Native or Hybrid technologies?

Which server side technology stack will be best?

Should we launch for one platform only(iOS or Android) in the beginning or both?

To overcome challenges the trade-offs need to be derived & compared very thoughtfully.

Stage 4Marketing

What’s your marketing budget? We have consulted over 200 businesses and entrepreneurs, and hardly 10% had dedicated

budget for marketing of their apps!!

Make App’s own site. Can be a detailed one or a microsite.

Create short explanatory video of “How the app works”.

Quite basic but have your app’s blog with regular posts on app, market, industry challenges, future roadmap etc.

Make presence on all important social media channels where your users might be. Inform, engage and enrich their lives.Connect with industry influences and seek feedback on your app. Request them to share if they like it!

Use Press/PR for pre-release buzz, post release feedback and experiences

Use App recommendation and review sites to list your app and get feedback from experts.
