Comment: Consistent performer, but an emergency and unlikely to gain a start.

ZENOLA SEELSTERTrainer: Geo Small Driver: Phillip Butcher

$201

01

Comment: The mystery man of the field from Australia whose record looks good. Big strong looking pacer with very good manners. Questions over whether he will measure up though. Draw may make things tough.

CARIBBEAN BLASTERTrainer: Andy Gath Driver: Kate Gath

Comment: The defending champion and the inform horse this season. His preparation has been excellent and confidence levels in the Court camp are high. It’s going to take something special to beat the Cup favourite.

TERROR TO LOVETrainer: Paul & Graham Court Driver: Ricky May

$10

02$2.60

03

Comment: Huge run in the Kaikoura Cup which showed he can be competitive. The two mile distance maybe his undoing.

MAJOR MARKTrainer: Mark Purdon Driver: Collin de Fillipi

$41

04

Comment: Former Australian who was brilliant in the Kaikoura Cup. A late injury scare has not helped. Otherwise his preparation has been great and will be primed and ready for this. A big chance with a bit of luck.

SUSHI SUSHITrainer: Mark Purdon Driver: Natalie Rasmussen

Comment: The real up-and-coming star of the pacing ranks. His form has been good and trainer driver combo demands a lot of respect. Big hope of being in the money.

MAH SISHTrainer: Tim Butt Driver: Anthony Butt

$11

05$13

06

Comment: The Pride of the south. Hasn’t run a bad race yet and comes into this as a real live chance of getting the lion's share of the prize.

FRANCO LEDGERTrainer: Hamish Hunter Driver: Hamish Hunter

$7.50

07

Comment: The young pretender. Winner of the Methven Cup and a stunning third at Kaikoura. His big problem is the stand start. Should he get away in an orderly fashion he is a realistic threat.

FLY LIKE AN EAGLETrainer: Mark Purdon Driver: Mark Purdon

Comment: Former star who has been struggling to recapture his best form. On his day he would go close to winning. The Dexter factor is a big plus as is Tim Butt’s record at having his horses spot on for the big days.

STUNIN CULLENTrainer: Tim Butt Driver: Dexter Dunn

Comment: The first emergency. So if someone else pulls out, he is in and would need a miracle to figure in the finish if he did.

MACH BANNERTrainer: Robert Dunn Driver: John Dunn

$101

10

Comment: A pacer with real up-and-coming potential. Might be a better horse in this race in 12 months time but should things fall into place he can spice up the combinations.

PURE POWERTrainer: Dave & Clare McGowan Driver: Todd McFarlane

Comment: Tough staying type who hasn’t looked anywhere near his best form this season. He will force the pace and keep the field honest but he lacks the finishing pace of others. A place chance.

OHOKA TEXASTrainer: Mark Jones Driver: Mark Jones

$61

11$101

12

Comment: Emergency runner. Needs a couple of scratchings to get in (which looks highly unlikely).

DONEGAL DELIGHTTrainer: Cran Dalgety Driver: Unconrmed

$201

13

Comment: Third in the race last year. Tommy has been primed for this race and will have no problems with the 3200 metres. Few in the field will match his guts and determination.

HIGHVIEW TOMMYTrainer: Mark Purdon Driver: Blair Orange

Comment: The horse who looks to be the biggest threat to Terror To Love. All his runs this season have been full of merit and his trainer will have him spot on. It helps having a talent like Tony Herlihy as driver too.

GOLD ACETrainer: Steven Reid Driver: Tony Herlihy

$41

14$11

15

Comment: Comes from a powerful stable who have a good record of getting results in this race. His form has been good without being brilliant during the lead up. Needs a good run to be a player.

JARCULLEMBRATrainer: Geo Small Driver: David Butcher

$31

16

Comment: One of the real each way bets of the race. This guy has the talent - pace and staying ability - to be a prominent figure. Unlucky to draw the second line as he has such great manners. A good chance though.

PEMBROOK BENNYTrainer: Barry Purdon Driver: Zac Butcher

Comment: The most polarising horse in the field. This erratic genius could very well win the race. But it all depends on which Auckland Reactor turns up on the day. If he steps away well, look out.
