How Shall the YoungSecure their hearts?
• Psalms 119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his ways? By taking heed
• Thereto according to thy word.”
Young People Needto know the Truth!
• John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth,
• And the truth shall make you free!
Young People Need toRemember:
• Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed
• For lack of knowledge.
Why – Faith without WorksIS DEAD!
James 2:14-26
• There are always people that listen at the message from extreme point-of-views. – 1. Preach on baptism and some think the
messenger is against faith in Christ. – 2. Preach on faith in Christ and others think the
messenger doesn’t believe in baptism. – 3. Preach on law keeping and some think the
messenger minimizes God’s grace. – 4. Preach on grace and others think the
messenger minimizes the need for law keeping.
Demonstration of a living faith in loving action
• True faith will be accompanied by action
• James 2: 14
• What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?
Can that kind of faith save him?
• Illustration : James 2:15,16
• If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
•Nothing….that kind of ‘faith’ is void,
•Useless,
•of no profit.
• James 2: 17
• Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
A Test:• James 2: 18
• 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith,
and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and
.. I will shew thee my faith by my works.
Examples:
• James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
• 1. The devils believe…and they tremble!
• 2. Do you believe there is one God?
• Great…How is your faith demonstrated.
Something That We AllKNOW!
•James 2: 20 • But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
IT IS VAIN,USELESS
• IT PROFITS NOTHING
• IT DOES NOT AVAIL ANYTHING
• IT WON’T HELP YOU OR ANYONE
• FAITH WITHOUT WORKS –
• IS DEAD!
James Gives 2 Examples
• ABRAHAM..our father!. • James 2:21-23 Was not Abraham our
father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
What did Abraham do?
• …He was justified by works…he demonstrated his FAITH!
• V. 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
• ‘faith wrought with his works’ v.22
•
The Scripture was fulfilled!
• V.23 “And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, • Abraham believed God, and it was imputed
unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
• You see…you understand..you comprehend v.24 “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and
• not by• faith Only”
You cannot be Justified by‘faith only’
• And,
• You cannot be justified by
• ‘works only”

• Exodus 20:• 8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six
days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
