IntroductionIn my presentation I shall be focusing on how the media as a whole; teaches, exploits and changes people and our society. I shall range from both positive and negative uses of such tactics.

Social MediaPeople use social media to interact with those on the opposite side of the world positive use’s include people find parents or lover’s, such as the woman who was able to report of her being physically abuse on facebook after posting a selfie, which was then viewed and reported to the authorities. Another service, Skype allows people to speak to each other through the internet and is extremely useful when you have spent a long time away from each other

On the other hand, terror groups such as ISIS use social media sites to groom vulnerable people into joining and causes them to travel to Syria and fight for the regime or it can lead them to bombing or attack innocents in their own country.

I can also be exploited by paedophiles to groom young children and cause them to be sexually abused by the culprits.

The News & Bias ArticlesDepending on how the news is presented to the population the articles shape our views. If an article is negative the view of the subject will be negative. If positive the persons view shall be positive. On the other hand sometimes people are not influenced by the opinions on TV as they already have a firm one-sided view of the situation

One example is immigration. Some say that you shouldn’t let them in as they are violent and can be terrorists as well. This opinion is shared by the German government who say they can not tell whether the large influx of Muslim integration will cause a problem to normal German society. However others believe we should aid the migrants who have fled war-torn Syria

TelevisionTelevision is by far the most influential as most families have I TV in the home and the; news, films, documentaries and drama’s, show us different and sometimes conflicting views. Some examples include the portrayal of ISIS as being an evil extremist organisation on the news with the showing of the execution videos, which makes people see the regeime as negative. Also

documentaries such as Whale wars show the brutality of unsustainable fishing and so causes a negative reaction to be felt by the public against the Japanese and Asian communities. Another example is the portrayal of different religions and cultures that express stereotypical views of said cultures, such as Muslims being terrorists and Southern US residents racist and homophobic
