HOW IS WATER RECYCLED ?

Transcript of How is water recycled

  • 1. How does water changes?Water moves from the Earths surface to the Atmosphere, then it moves back to the surface. Water changes states forms as it moves.

Water moves from rivers and lakes into the atmosphere in the form of water vapor. Water vapor forms clouds. Copyright of www.makemegenius.com, for more videos ,visit us. 4. Condensation To know that condensation is the process of gas cooling to form a liquid Copyright of www.makemegenius.com, for more videos ,visit us. 6. So what is Condensation? Condensation is a process, a change Its the cooling process that changes gas into a liquid It is the opposite of evaporation. more videos ,visit us. Copyright of www.makemegenius.com, for 7. Bathroom mirror After a shower your bathroom is filled with steam (water vapour) from the hot water. When it hits the cold glass of the mirror it turns back to water and forms tiny dropletsH e l l o !Copyright of www.makemegenius.com, for more videos ,visit us. 8. Freezing The process of liquid cooling to form a solidCopyright of www.makemegenius.com, for more videos ,visit us. 9. The Water Cycle 10. Water never leaves the Earth. It is constantly being cycled through the atmosphere, ocean, and land. This process, known as the water cycle, is driven by energy from the sun. The water cycle is important to the existence of life on our planet. 11. Evaporation Heat energy from the sun causes water in puddles, streams, rivers, seas or lakes to change from a liquid to a water vapor. This is called evaporation. The vapor rises into the air and collects in clouds. 12. Evaporation The conversion of water from a liquid to a gasSolar energy drives evaporation of water from the ocean. The evaporated water changes from a liquid form into water vapor a gaseous form. 13. The process of evaporation from plants is called transpiration. (In other words, its like plants sweating.) 14. Transpiration Transpiration is the process by which plants lose water out of their leaves. Transpiration gives evaporation a bit of a hand in getting the water vapor back up into the air. 15. Condensation Water vapor collects in clouds. As the clouds cool the water vapor condenses into water drops. This is called condensation. These drops fall to the earth as rain, snow or hail. 16. CondensationThe transformation of water vapor back into liquid water by coolingEvaporated water is warmed and rises into the air where it eventually cools and condenses to form clouds. 17. Precipitation Water falls to the earth fromclouds. Mainly as rain, but sometimes as snow and hail. This is called precipitation. 18. PrecipitationRain, hail, or snow falling from the clouds due to the condensation of waterWhen clouds become very heavy with With enough condensed water is released condensed water, the water, you get rain! in the form of rain, hail, or snow. 19. Accumulation The collection of precipitation into rivers, lakes, and oceans. This completes the water cycle! 20. When rain falls on the land, some of the water is absorbed into the ground forming pockets of water called groundwater. Most groundwater eventually returns to the ocean. Other precipitation runs directly into streams or rivers. Water that collects in rivers, streams, and oceans is called runoff. 21. This is the water cycle! condensationtranspiration evaporationaccumulationprecipitation 22. Clouds- Groups of water vapor together form the clouds. - There are three types of clouds: 1) Cumulus. 2) Stratus. 3) Cirrus. 23. (1) Cumulus clouds -Puffy & white clouds that look like cotton balls. -They often have a flat bottom. -This kind of clouds produces precipitation. 24. (2) Stratus clouds -Clouds form in layers. -The layers look like sheets or blankets. -They are often the lowest clouds in the sky. -Fog is a stratus cloud. - Stratus clouds can form precipitation. 25. (3) Cirrus clouds -Clouds look thin, wispy or feathery. -They are made of tiny bits of ice. -Cirrus clouds are usually found very high in the sky 26. PRECIPITATIONHailRainSleetSnow 27. Rain It's the liquid form of the rain. 28. Sleet Sometimes rain falls from clouds as liquid but freezes along the way. -The rain turns into flakes of ice. -This type of rain is sleet. 29. Hail It is made of ice too. -The ice chunks are much largerthan sleet. -They are formed inside the tall clouds of thunderstorm. -Some are the size of peas, some are bigger than baseballs. 30. Snow When water reaches a temperaturebelow 0C, it freezes into ice. -Bits of ice collect into a cloud, when they get too heavy, they fall as snow.
