Initial Consultation

In the initial consultation depth scalp analysis has been done to examine the extent of problem, reason the hair loss, family history if required, medical history of the patient, health, laxity of the scalp is examined to check the eligibility for the FUT treatment.

During this analysis donor area is also determined and even estimation for the after surgery results have been given to the patients.

Design Of The Donor Area’s Strip

For follicular unit transplant method length of the strip depends on the laxity of scalp, the requirement of the patient and expectation of the patient.

Generally the length of this strip ranges from the 1 to 2cm for the ease of closing the after extraction wound. This hair bearing skin is taken from the occipital area of the scalp and can be extended from the outer ear to the other side.

Strip is removed from the area where the healthy and loss resistant follicles are present with the sufficient density.

Application Of Local Anesthesia

After the design of donor area local anesthesia is applied to the patient to numb the scalp so that without any pain or discomfort surgery can be done.

Detachment Of Strip

With the use of scalpel or scissors strip is detached by the incision from the both sides of the subcutaneous fat. During the detachment of strip there is great need of artistic skill of surgeon and the attention so that creation of deep skin incision can be avoided and the extraction of strip can be done without damaging the tissues and the scalp.

Suturing Of Wound

Removal of strip leaves the linear shape wound in the donor areas which need to be closed. Generally the Suturing of wound is done in the layers so the absorbable stitches are used for the deep layer of skin.

For the upper layer of skin nylon or endodermic consecutive stitches are used. These days for wound closure advanced technique called trichophytic closure is used.

Processing Of Grafts

After the successful removal of strip team of expert’s technicians and assistants of Dr. Gupta handled the strip as the strip is dissected into small natural grouping of hair.

Dissection of hair strip is done under the super micro scopes into the grafts containing 1-4 hair grouping so that natural looking hair can be given after surgery

Transplantation Of Hair Follicles

With the use of scalpel or needle small receptions are created for cultivating the grafts into them with the help of forceps.

Hair grafts are transplanted according to the required density and then after completion patient is asked for some rest and then can go home.

After the surgery patient may feel mild pain, swelling and even redness in the donor area but it is quite normal and get vanished in 3-4 days generally.

Due to the formation of scabs patient may also feel itching but patient is asked to avoid rubbing of grafts otherwise it can disturb the transplanted hair.
