HOW EFFECTIVE WAS THE COMBINATION OF THE ANCILLARY TASK AND YOUR PRODUCT?

The aim of our assignment was to create a short film which would be approximately 5 minutes in length. We were able to create a short film that could include drama, action, horror or romance. Our production was based on a drama as we want to represent how teenagers go through problems, and how use as an audience are able to help. As a group, we decided to do a drama as we felt they are many different elements that we can use to portray this to the audience which will make them emotionally invested. I felt it would be a rewarding challenge as I had never created a drama piece. A drama’s require attention to detail and thus could be extremely hard to pull off, we aim to create a production that focuses on minor details to create a meaningful, yet clear drama that the audience will be able to interpret and understand. After making our film we would have to make advertising promotion which includes both a film poster to advertise the film’s release and a film review giving expert opinion on the film.

The objectives of the ancillary task were to create two pieces of promotional material which could include poster which was a visual promotional method this would give information about the film such as that release date and who made the film Both the film poster and review were required to match the short film and look attractive, moreover a film review which was a written text to give the reader information about the film and what people thought about the life such ads verdict

My pieces of promotional material were aim at our target audience which were both male and female age 15 to 35, this meant that were are able to use different social media such as twitter which can inform the audience about the product this meant that our target audience could relate to the issue that was raised in film. Furthermore i had used a colour scheme that was trendy amongst they other poster and film review, as this would allow me to make it attractive to the reader. Both the film review and the film poster were had key elements from our drama this means that the audience will know what genre of the film and what the storyline will be. Both the film poster and film review were created to high quality materials as the photos used were taken by high quality camera and edited which means that they are clear. Finally by using Photoshop to produce them had allowed adjusting the text and giving it a professional l look which would by appealing.

Red- I had used the red colour scheme to indicate danger and pain by doing this it will create another meaning for the audience as that would want to understand more about the character. For example the red could represent her mental disturbance and experiences she faces throughout the film, moreover this is significant as it can highlight personality from the film as we had used the sound clip demon which could foreshadow her inner feeling .Black, this is again a colour is associated with negativity and darkness we had used this to show how Natalie was feeling and how she thinks that the world is against her. White colour was to show the innocent mind of the character, purity of mind and body however in the film we see the character smoking and drinking which could argue that the character is not pure, however as a director I wanted to show how the character has been brought into peer pressure as this is common in society.

My inspiration for my film review came from the empire magazines. More specifically this one from kite Runner. empire magazines has standard layout where there is a meaningful picture that relates with the production then the title and tagline just below it, in my film review I had made some changes the layout and colour scheme to make it my own

The structure of my poster was based on these film posters. Where I had the actors names at the top, and the title and tagline in the middle I had got the idea of using the three images for star Trak as I will be able to show three different view of the character this would allow the audience relate with her. Additionally looking at these film posters gave me the idea to add a background which stands out and relate with the drama, which this will mean that the audience will be able to rem

This picture was used to convey Natalies emotions in the film review. She is sitting with head phone in her ears which demonstrates her reflective character, and this was used in the film review, as this would allow the audiences understands and be apart with the character and this will allow that audience to recognise the kind of emotions Natalie experiences

The eyes in the background represent how people in society my look down at her and make judgments, which are not true. And the eyes could signify the mystery that is behind her.

The differences in colours represent her range of emotions she is experiencing at one time due to the pressure that are placed. The red used in the title, was there to signify the danger as true fades way show that she may not believe in herself any more. The use of the Olympic park background contrast the character personality are she feel that the world hate her and she is not successful while the background is ironic as this is a place for success

The title behind the true image suggests that Natalie has been misunderstood and there is no one to support her character. The way that the character is sitting show that she is reflecting and looking at why she is in the situation and the struggle that she Is going through. Due to the genre we had used this real life situation to convey the message on how society looks at teenagers or young people also this is conventional in this genre.

These different angle that the picture has been take in shows she weak insecure as she drink to wash her sorrow away however the eyes behind representing her emotions.

The use of imagery conveys the emotion of the character due to the different facial expression and the objects used in the picture such as the bottle. The different colour scheme in the text represents the personality

This image portrays Natalie’s emotional state, and she is reflecting on her life's current situation, this is a good image as it tells a story and what the film is about. I think this picture is meaningful. The eyes in the background could suggest that there is something hidden.

throughout the film. This picture also amplifies Natalie's depression throughout the film due to the facial expression, making it clear as to what the storyline would be. As the character look away shows her inferior state throughout the film.

To conclude I feel that the use of the Text, colour scheme were all effective creating a good advertisement medium for our film. The codes and conventions which were used in the promotional material are something I aimed at them which makes it more appealing to the audience.

Both the film review and the poster told a story on what was going to happen in the film by considering our target audience we will be able to market their needs.

If I was able to I work improve some elements in the poster as I felt there were are of improvement such as parts of the design and the layout could have been better, the things that I would change is the picture that I had used as it had restricted me moreover I would change some of the typography as it could have been more creative and place better. As well as cropping around the image could have been more neither which will make my poste look professional.
