  1. 1. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
  2. 2. Picture For my three media products I had to ensure that there was flow and relevance between them. Therefore I used pictures which consisted of two of the main characters in the film, this allows the audience to get a good view upon both characters. For my poster and my magazine front cover I used relevant pictures which expressed the roles of the characters in that film, I had used the villain in one picture and the hero in the other. The clothing which they are wearing and props used in the pictures makes it easy for the audience to understand the type of role the character will have throughout the film.

BLURB The blurb I have used throughout the media texts and in my trailer, this blurb is useful as it shows the audience relevant information such as the cast included, writers and producers and also how to find out more information about the film e.g. the website at the bottom or social networking sites. These blurbs follow the generic conventions of a movie trailer and are very effective. GENERAL FEEL OF THE THREE TEXTS In my ancillary, all throughout it I have used very similar features to portray that thriller genre which is a dark style.   4. 4. My Title The title of my movie is KIDNAPPED, it is short and very easy to remember. The name of the film was chosen because it tells the audience what the main topic of the film will be about so they will be able to have a brief idea on what to expect when they are watching the film. The colour of the movie title I decided to keep red as it is a very common feature which has been used throughout my poster and my magazine. I also chose red as it represents violence, horror, evil and blood. These are factors which are relevant to the style of thriller which has been created. The font of my title I also chose specifically as it represents blood which again ties in with the thriller genre that my story is based upon. The black background of fits in perfectly with the title as it allows the title to stand out even though it may be a dark colour, the black ground allows the Red to stand out in bold so it is eye catching.   5. 5. Colour SchemeThe colour scheme throughout my media products and ancillary texts was mainly red and black, these colours are both representations of dark emotions such as evil or horror. This ties in with my genre as I am doing a thriller this fits the codes and convention of this style of movie. These colours also have been used effectively in my magazine and poster as they are meant to remain attractive and eye-catching but not overdone or overpowering with colours. Coming soon/ October Halloween The trailer is meant to give the audience a brief idea of what the film is about, the taglines towards the end which I have used such as coming soon gets the audience more interested as they know it will be out soon so they will be looking out for it, I also put in October Halloween which is a seasona promotion method, this will encourage audiences to be looking out for the film release date around Halloween time.
  6. 6. Selling Point Selling point has also been included through my media products as in my trailer I have used from the makers of Taken , this allows audiences to identify the genre. Also another factor is that if the audiences have seen that film and enjoyed they are going to be interested in watching this film also hoping it would be as good as Taken. This is common convention used in many trailers to influence audiences to watch the film. Also another convention which has been used is the actors name, if an actor Is popular audiences are going to be interested in watching a film they are in, they will recognise the name and therefore be interested in watching the film this again is popular selling point many magazine or posters use. Production logos Production logos also play an important role in terms of selling point, if the production logo is popular or is of a highly rated company it will encourage audiences to watch the film due to the highly rated company. I have used this in both my poster and my trailer, this will allow audiences to have high expectations of the film expecting it to be good therefore increasing the popularity of it.
