How Constant Contact Helps Small BusinessesBy Steven Robertson
How important are small businesses? Small businesses are the fabric of our
country. It’s almost a trickle up effect: if the
small businesses do well, the economy does well.
I truly believe the flourishing of the small business market makes our economy stronger
Constant Contact’s belief in Small Businesses Our slogans have changed over the years,
but the one constant has been our belief in small businesses.
When I first joined the company, all I heard was “small businesses are our fabric” and “we’re here to help small businesses do more business”
At first, I honestly thought it was lip service, however, as I’ve worked there, I learned they meant it.
How does Constant Contact help? Constant Contact helps these small
businesses thrive in a few different areas For starters the amount of availability we
have to our customers is one of the things they appreciate
Second is the quality and simplicity of the product.
Finally, and most importantly, it’s the understanding of running a small business.
Availability We as a company try to make sure that
these small businesses that work these odd hours feel like they are being helped.
We attempt to give them prompt responses that make them feel like they are being helped and not just given a solution for them to try.
Expertise We have that expertise that not only are
we going to help you, but we’re going to make sure you understand it.
As much as we appreciated customers calling in, we don’t want to make them feel like they have to call in every single time they see an issue. Small business owners don’t have that kind of time.
Quality of the product I think the thing that sets us apart is
how simple our product is to use. We want to make sure that the brick and
mortar, hasn’t even considered online marketing business owner feels like they can use our product.
What’s the point of developing something if the people we’re trying to help can’t use it?
Understanding The understanding of how a small business
works is one of the biggest pieces of this. A small business owner is a unique person,
they think about their business and work 24/7, so we need to understand when they commit so much of themselves to marketing, that sometimes they need to be coached and guided.
That is where the understanding piece comes into play.
Passion for helping I think this is just as important as the
understanding piece. You must have a passion for helping
small businesses, otherwise do you really believe in what you’re doing?
My favorite part of my job is working with a small business owner who is looking to me to guide their business forward.
Conclusion My conclusion is that without a
dedicated group of people at this company, I don’t know how successful we’d be.
All of the people that work for Constant Contact share this passion, and that for me is what makes it such a great place to work. We believe in what we do for these small businesses.
