1 DONOR YEARBOOK 2014 Year in Review This past year has been a very busy and exciting one for the United States Pony Clubs: 2014 started with the Annual Meeting held in Portland, OR hosted by the Oregon Region and presented by HughesNet with over 740 attendees. The keynote speaker for the meeting was David Blake, B graduate from Half-Halt Pony Club in the Heartland Region. The National Youth Board and Academy of Achievement were again held in conjunction with the meeting. The following were inducted to the Academy of Achievement : Katherine Devereaux Byron, MFH, Stephanie Church, David Courreges, and Mark Lloyd. 2014 year end membership (youth and Horsemasters) was 9,278. Clubs and Riding Centers totaled 583. As of December 31, 2014, 190 members passed their National Level Certifications. This included: 2 H-B, 19 H- HM/H/H-A, 46 C-3 Traditional, 3 C-3 Show Jumping, 4 C -3 Dressage, 13 B Traditional, 1 B Dressage, and 2 A Traditional. 50 candidates are eligible to complete their retest by August 31, 2015. The VI Committee finished the VI Guidebook and presented a webinar. The National Examiners and Chief Horse Management Judges Seminars were both held in 2014 for continuing education and standardization of testing and Horse Management at rallies. USPC Manual of Horsemanship H-B to A Levels was released in the fall of 2014 with great anticipation. The newly revised D-1 - A Dressage Standards, C-3 - A Show Jumping Standards, and the new D-1 - A Safety Standards were approved by the Board of Governors for release in 2015. Improving technology opportunities allowed USPC to host 19 webinars with over 600 attendees. Viewings of previous webinars reached 1,849 and ranged in topics from riding and horse care to leadership development. USPC’s educational booth returned to the Omaha International Horse Show in April. The booth brings a hands-on approach to grassroots educational outreach for attendees. A $10,000 grant allows USPC education to travel to various venues across the country. How Can You Help? The United States Pony Clubs is a non-profit equestrian ed- ucational organization which serves traditional members up to 25 years of age. In addition, Pony Club Horsemasters membership allows the Pony Club education to continue on after graduating, or even begin for those who did not have the opportunity earlier in life. The foundation of the Pony Club education both in and out of the barn is safety, horsemanship, sportsmanship, leadership, stewardship and fun. Members learn riding and mounted sports, and the care of horses. The skills and values instilled through Pony Club teamwork and horsemanship apply to every aspect of life. Pony Club is supported by the efforts of dedicated volun- teers. But we still need the help of alumni, friends and our corporate sponsors. • The 2014 USPC Festival sponsored by Charles Owen and JPC Equestrian added several new components. D camp was new and a great success with 37 participants. The H-B/H-A prep was viewed positively by all that attended. USPC presented two Masters Clinics with Lendon Gray and Spy Coast Farm.

• For the first time at Festival the trade fair, clinics, and some of the competition was held in the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park with great success.

• 37 Chiefs and Provisional Assistant Chiefs attended Festival Championships, and were spread across all Disciplines. We will continue to staff Championships with CHMJs, as their knowledge was invaluable, especially stewarding the growing number of introductory level competitors.

• Festival 2014 Championships Participation by Discipline:

• The USPC sent a team to the Pony Jumper competition at USEF Pony Finals in August where the team won Gold against nine other traditional zone teams.

• Games held more successful competitions with the Prince Phillip Cup held at the Rolex Kentucky 3-Day Event in April and the President’s Cup held at the Fair Hill International 3-Day Event in October.

• International exchanges continue to be popular with a USPC International Games team competing in Canada, a USPC International Tetrathlon team in Australia, and a USPC International Quiz team hosted competition during USPC Festival Championships.

• This was the first year USPC was considered a Sponsor at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event and moved the main booth to Sponsors Row with interactive fun for past, present, and future members. The pin promise created by the NYB is continuing to gain popularity among alumni and ShopPonyClub offered spirit wear with an onsite store front.

• In 2014 USPC was the sponsor of the Interscholastic Equestrian Association Finals Written Test for both Hunt Seat and Western, promoting education within other youth organizations.
