PARK RESERVATIONS —Valley Park & South Park

1. Reservations will be made on a first come first serve basis for residents of Hermosa Beach only (ID & current utility bill required) for Valley Park and South Park. 2. The Community Resources Department will make a maximum of two reservations on each available calendar day. Park reservations must be made in person during regular business hours (Monday - Thursday 7am - 6pm) at the Community Center. 3. One bounce house permitted with a park reservation in the amphitheater at Valley Park per day. Proof of insurance naming the City of Hermosa Beach as additionally insured is required when requesting a bounce house. Bounce House must be rented from one of the following pre-approved companies:

AMERICAN KARATE American Karate provides physical conditioning, which improves balance, posture, flexibility, timing, quickness, muscle tone, joint strength and most importantly, practical self-defense skills and self-confidence through physical and mental discipline. CHALLENGER BRITISH MINIKICKERS SOCCER MiniKickers is a new and exciting program for kids ages 2-5 that focuses on key child development areas through the medium of soccer. The goal is to improve each child's motor skills, whilst advancing their physical, psychological and social development. The emphasis of coaching is to give children versatile experiences of basic motor skills and combinations, whilst creating a fun and safe environment for children to interact. SOUTH BAY MUSIC TOGETHER (BIG KIDS) Music Together Big Kids® is a 60-minute class geared to the interests and abilities of 5, 6 or 7-year-olds. The program blends the elements of Music Together that parents and children love with new activities, skills, and challenges that are developmentally appropriate for this age group. Big Kids classes lay the foundation for Basic Music Literacy. The curriculum includes solfège, solos and ensembles, folk dances, harmony singing, vocal development, and instrument play. In a safe, fun environment, your child can experiment with new activities like conducting and improvisation, story songs, and game songs. Parent attendance is welcome but not required. Each family receives a Big Kids songbook, CD, solfège cards, and HomePlay activities, so that the entire family can continue the fun and learning at home and parents can stay connected with what the child is learning in class. Music Together is an internationally recognized childhood music program for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners and the adults who love them. Developed at Princeton’s Center for Music and Young Children, this program was first offered to the public in 1987 and is the pioneer of research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculums emphasizing adult involvement. Students learn to play chords, read notation, and strum along to songs in a fun group setting. Students must provide their own ukulele. Instructor: Andy Johnson - A professional musician and instructor who grew up in Idaho, where he began his life-long love of music by playing trumpet at a young age. He eventually moved on to upright bass and bass guitar, performing in various bands over the years. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in 2004 at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where he stud-ied performance, education and production with emphasis in bass guitar. In 2007, Andy relocated to Los Angeles, CA and has since developed a love of teaching music to students of all ages. He expanded his musicianship by learning to play a wide variety of instruments including guitar, piano, violin, drums, ukelele, banjo and mandolin. He currently resides in the South Bay, where he teaches music and performs in the bands For the Kings and Uncle Junebug. E.T. SKATE CLASS Back by popular demand, the South Bay’s longest running skate class. 8 years running, it focuses on teaching the youth all about skateboarding. All levels from first time on the board to advance students ready to move to the next level. One of the only classes held in a private, more personal setting, giving all levels of students a chance to learn and make new friends in a less intimidating environment. From local experts, you will learn all about skateboarding from safety equipment needed to many trickets. San Diego’s Coronado Island is a charming beach community rich in history. Join us and a local guide on a tour of the island, starting with some history on San Diego and the bridge that leads you to Coronado Island. We will then be led to three establishments at the Ferry Land-ing to sample some tasty treats, everything from BBQ to Italian to sweet desserts! After our food tasting, we will head to a local brewery for a tour and beer tasting. We will then continue exploring the island with a drive around Coronado’s Millionaire’s Row and the Hotel Del Coro-nado. The Hotel Del Coronado is a Victorian beachfront hotel built in 1899 and known as a National Historic Landmark. Our guide will ex-plain the history of the hotel and you will have free time to explore it on your own. Lastly, we will make the short drive back to Ferry Landing to board a ferry for a short cruise across San Diego Bay.

The Heritage Square Museum explores the settlement and development of Southern California during its first 100 years of statehood. We will receive a docent-led tour of the eight historic structures located at the museum. These buildings, constructed during the Victorian Era, were saved from demolition and serve as a perfect background to educate the public about the everyday lives of Southern Californians from the close of the 19th Century into the early decades of the 20th Century. From the simplicity of the Longfellow-Hastings Octagon House to the opulence of the William Perry Mansion, the Museum provides a unique look at the lifestyles of the people who contributed so much to the development of modern Los Angeles. BEACH VOLLEYBALL

(BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED) – SIGLER

Beginner: This class is for people learning to play the game. Whether you have never picked up a volleyball before, or want to get ready to play with friends this summer, this is the class for you. We walk through the rules as well as basic skills like passing, serving, setting and hitting. Open play at the end of each class. Come out and meet new friends, get a good cardio workout and learn how to play. Intermediate: This class is for the intermediate player who wants to play consistently better. Some basic skills work but much of the class will be devoted to learning more advanced skills like hitting, hand setting, side out strategies, and defense. Open play after class. You’ll meet great people, and get in a good workout. Advanced: This class is for those who want to significantly accelerate their skill level. The best instructors on the beach will provide skill and drill training that the top pros use. Hand setting, shots/hitting, strategies, plyos, and more, are all wrapped into this class. Many from this class have gone on to win CBVA and VBV tournaments. Instructor: Bill Sigler, former AAA rated player and has coached youth indoor teams to some of the top ranked AVP pros. With assistance and guidance from their sister city Loreto has vastly improved the quality of life for its residence and created opportunities for its citizens.
