Welcome, Introductions and apologies given – Maud O’Leary started the meeting. The table layout has been altered and the word Board from the Learning Disabilities Partnership Board will no longer be used as was asked for at the last meeting. The minutes from the last meeting were signed off.A presentation was given by Linzi Lee Ellison from Mencap on finding a Luton Young Ambassador.

Some questions were asked after the Mencap/Young Ambassadors presentation:

Why is this just for 14 – 25 year olds? – Because this is the age group we have been given the money to run this new project. Older people with Learning Disabilities are always welcome to become a volunteer for

Who decides on the person chosen? – Other ambassadors help to choose the right person and support is given to the new person based on advice given by their parents or carers. Each person needs different support.

Business as usual – Presentations were given showing information on the subgroups.

The Care Act 2014 – Tracey Brennan from Luton Borough Council.Information included in the Business As Usual Presentation aboveHear my voice – A Mencap scheme to promote people with Learning Disabilities voting in the next election.

Minutes Easy ReadHertfordshire keep safe– Jane Dellow and Carol LeeCarol started off by telling her story and how Keep Safe had helped her.

Jane Dellow then did a presentation on Keep Safe and gave out flyers and the Keep Safe key ring.

Yvonne McKinlay introduced herself as the new Community Development Worker for POhWER. She reported back on the recent event held at Dunstable Leisure Centre called ‘Voice the Conference’; where they had twice the expected amount of people turn up on the day.A short DVD taken at the conference was shown at the end of the meeting and ran during lunch.POhWER gave details of the VOICE groups being held.

An autism group held at Tokko A new group held monthly – Your

Voice your Choice – held monthly at Bramingham.

They are trying to arrange other Learning Disabilities Voice group.

Minutes Easy Read Any Other Business:

Val Sheridan gave some details of the many events being held during Learning Disability week and invited everyone along.Copies of the Learning Disabilities timetable were available for people to take away with them as were flyers for the remaining events for the week.

Maud O’Leary said that we must challenge ourselves to make sure that more Service Users come along to the Learning Disability Partnership meetings.At the end of the meeting people were asked if they thought the table layout had worked better.It was agreed by everyone to keep it this way for the next meeting.Date, Time and Venue for the nextLearning Disability Partnership meeting:Date; Wednesday 15th October 2014

Time; 9.30am arrival for coffee and the meeting will run from 10am till 12.30pm
