Notes of meeting of November 12, 2013

Omar Elhagmusa and Rory Krupp, co-chairs of the Housing Committee, called the meeting to

    order at 5:35 p.m.

Diane Dixon said that she has the petition for permit parking on North Sixth Street, but she must

determine what the petition will request in terms of parking restrictions. Mr. Krupp said he has a

draft of Italian Villages permit parking agreement. Mr. Elhagmusa and Mr. Krupp will work

with Ms. Dixon on the wording of the petition.

Mr. Elhagmusa asked whether the committee members wished to meet in December. The

committee decided to hold its next monthly meeting on the second Tuesday in January.

Terry Althouse distributed a draft flyer for a housing information fair on Saturday, January 11,

from noon to 3 p.m. at Godman Guild Association. She reported that Columbia Gas of Ohio is

willing to be a sponsor for the fair and is contributing $1,000. She said none of the agencies have

turned down her subcommittees request to participate. She also said the subcommittee felt it

was important to open the fair to residents throughout the city. The committee expressed

appreciation to Ms. Althouse and the subcommittee members for their work on the fair.

Mr. Elhagmusa reported that a tri-fold brochure was distributed at the last civic association

monthly meeting with information on tree-planting in Weinland Park. He said 35 trees have been

donated and are being grown for planting in Weinland Park.

Mr. Elhagmusa said that North Fifth Street recently had the first meeting of its new block club.

Mr. Krupp asked whether the University District may get two additional code enforcement

officers. Isom Nivins will check into the situation.

Mr. Elhagmusa said that some of his neighbors were interested in the bulk purchase of flowers,

mulch, and other supplies during Roots & Roofs. He suggested that the committee discuss the

information further at its January meeting and consider how to support such purchase.

Mr. Krupp said that Laura Bidwa informed him that the citys University District planning

process has slowed down while the city conducts a real estate inventory to determine the current

    density of the area.

  • Steve Sterrett reported that an energy audit had been done at his home that morning. The audit

was sponsored by Columbia Gas of Ohio. He felt the audit, which cost $50, was a very good

value and should be considered by homeowners and rental property owners in Weinland Park.

Mr. Elhagmusa and Mr. Krupp adjourned the meeting at 6:13 p.m.
