HCPP Migration: New, Better, Different
• New and Better– Faster, more intuitive searching– Post-search faceting– Full-text PDFs– Bookmarking of search forms– Dedicated Search by Number form
• Bill, Command Paper, and Sessional Paper Number– Dedicated Member search form
• Search by Office, Party Affiliation, and Nation (England, Wales, Scotland etc)– Document results page also shows relevant HNP and Congressional documents (based on
institutional subscriptions)– Subject term hyperlinking
• Different– Search prioritized over browse
• Usage and focus groups proved that few people use this functionality. It might have been state of the art in 2005, but not today.
HCPP Migration MARC records and usage statistics
• MARC Records– Legacy site MARCs available at item/paper level from 19th century forward– Also includes
• 17 18th century collection level MARC records– Hansard has a collection level MARC record– HCPP contains non-serial content; we will load updated MARCs to FTP site,
and link to it from PAM.– Existing (legacy site) record links will be redirected after cutover.
• Usage Stats– Legacy usage will NOT be migrated but will be available on CH platform
through at least 2016. – Usage for the new HCPP application will be in the ProQuest Administrator
Module (PAM).
HCPP Migration: Dual Access
Functionality to be implemented during the dual access period
– Full text PDFs: will go live with as many PDFs as we can generate at the time we go live. The remainder will be added during the dual access period
– Targeted results from Congressional showing from the document-result level
Please note, the screenshots shown in this presentation are from the beta site. While these are good indicators of the look and
functionality of the final product, things may change.
