Requirements

HB5 Requirements

• Began with students who entered grade 9 in 2014-2015.

• Students entering high school prior to 2014-2015 have

the option to change graduation plans.

• Students must:

• Meet graduation requirements

• Meet testing requirements—English I, English II, Algebra I,

Biology, U.S. History

• Demonstrate speech proficiency

FLEXIBILITY AND STUDENT CHOICE IS KEY!

HB5 Requirements

• All endorsements, performance acknowledgements, and distinguished achievement must be recorded on the diploma and the transcript.

• ALL STUDENTS BEGIN ON FOUNDATION WITH ENDORSEMENT.

• Distinguished Achievement is earned by

• Endorsement

• 4 science credits

• 4 mathematics credits

• Algebra II

AP and IB Courses

• May substitute for required courses on the Foundation

Plan

• May only count for one credit toward graduation

• May not satisfy the requirement for an advanced course,

but may count for a required course and an endorsement.

• May count as elective courses.

• Each course counts for one credit, but may count in more

than one place.

Dual Credit Courses

• May substitute for a required course.

• May count toward endorsement.

• May count as an advanced course.

Prerequisites

• NON-NEGOTIABLE unless the course in question was

completed out-of-state, out-of-country, or in a nonpublic

school.

Program

• Students must complete the sophomore year in order to

revert to the Foundation Plan.

• Students beginning high school prior to 2014-2015 may

change from their current graduation plan to the FHSP.

• ≥ 4 on IB exam

• on the PSAT, ACT-PLAN, SAT, ACT

• PSAT earning a score that qualifies student for recognition as a commended scholar or higher by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corp.

• ACT-PLAN achieving college readiness benchmark score on at least two of the four subject tests

• SAT combined critical reading and mathematics score of at least 1250

• ACT a composite score of 28 (excluding the writing sub score)
