Undergrad Hotplates

Digital versions of both the ceramic and ceramiccoated metal hotplate stirrers are also available.These units replace the LED temperature indicatorwith a digital display, for those users who wantto more accurately observe the hotplate surfacetemperature. Both digital units, the UC152D &US152DarecompatiblewiththeSCT1temperaturecontroller,forprecisesampletemperaturecontrol.

All analogue hotplate models in the UndergradrangefeatureatrueºCtemperaturesetting,ratherthana1to10arbitraryscale.TheLEDtemperatureindicator surrounds the heater control knob andprogressively illuminates to indicate the actualsurface temperature. This not only provides abright,obviousindicationthattheunitishot,whichcanbeseenfromacross theroom,butalsoclearlydifferentiatestheheatandstircontrols.

TheUndergradrangehasbeendesignedsotheunitscan be easily stored on their side, minimising therequiredstoragespace.Theentirerangeofhotplatestirrers feature an integral fitting for a retort rod,but the units are also uniquely designed to allowa retort base to slide underneath, saving valuabletimewherenumerousunitsneed tobe setup, forexampleinaneducationalenvironment.

Allhotplatemodelsfeaturea“Hot”warninglight,whichwillflashoncethehotplatesurfacereaches50ºC. The “Hot” light will continue to flash evenoncetheunithasbeenswitchedoffandunpluggedfromthemains,untilthesurfacetemperaturedropsbelow50ºC.

Powerful magnets and motor give stirring speedsup to 2000rpm and are capable of mixing largevolumes(upto15litres).

Choice of surfacesThehotplatesandhotplatestirrerscomewithachoiceofsurfaces;availableinachoiceofceramicorcoatedmetaltops,allsurfacesaresquaretoallowmoreflexibilityinvesselsizesandcombinations.

Ceramic coated Aluminium/siliconalloy for robustness. The top platehasathinceramiccoatingforaddedchemicalresistance.A700Welementgivesrapidheatingandensureseventemperaturedistributionacrossthewholesurfaceoftheplate.

Glassceramicforexcellentchemicalresistance. The surface is easy toclean and the thermal propertiesallowveryhighplatetemperatures,whileensuringtheedgesstaycooler,reducing the chance of accidentalburns. The white surface ensuresgoodvisibilityofcolourchanges,forexampleduringtitrations.

Ceramic CoatedRobustStainless steel (US151only),for accurate stirring. This surfacewon’t produce eddy currents likealuminium and ensure a verypowerful coupling and stirringactiononourdedicatedstirrers.

SCT1 Temperature controller

All hotplate models are compatible with the Stuart® SCT1 temperaturecontroller. In conjunction with your Undergrad hotplate the SCT1 ensuresaccuratetemperaturecontrolofheatingblocks,aqueousoroilbasedsamples,up to a maximum of 200ºC. The units automatically detect when the SCT1temperaturecontrollerispluggedin.

Providingreassurancethatthetemperatureofthesampleispreciselycontrolledatalltimes.Arangeofaccessoriesisalsoavailabletoallowforacompletesetupofcontroller,temperatureprobeandstirrerhotplate.

Stuart range of heating blocksThe Stuart range of heating blocks have beendeveloped in conjunction with DrySyn to providethebestpossiblesolutionforheatingroundbottomflasks.CombinedwiththeStuartrangeofundergradhotplates and hotplate stirrers, the Stuart heatingblocksprovide the cleanest and safestmethod forsynthesis of single or multiple reactions, whilstgiving equal or better heating performance thansiliconoil.

The modular nature of the Stuart heating blocksystemgivesyou thegreatestdegreeofflexibility,twosizesofbaseplatesareavailabletoaccommodateup to three blocks each, SHB100BASE can takeblocksforupto100mlflaskswhiletheSHB250BASEaccepts blocks for up to 250ml flasks. Handy costsavingstarterkitsarealsoavailable,combiningthe

baseplatewithaselectionofblockstogetyouupandrunning.Allblocksizesarealsoavailableseparatelyinpacksofthree.

For larger volume reactions a third base plateis available, the SHB1000BASE accepts a singleinsert for up to 500ml and also includes heatresistanthandlesforsafeandeasylifting.

Thehighqualityanodisedblocksofferexcellentchemicalandsolventresistance,andthelowwellhasbeenproventoofferexcellenttemperaturetransfer without compromising your view ofthe reaction or risking cracking the glassware.The low well also ensures that the blocks arecompatiblewithmultineckflasks.
