This topic of discussion is right up there with music in the sense that it is often talked about and brought up to the board. We have members who want to be able to wear jeans to the club and we have those who do not want to see this policy change. Well, after thoroughly and thoughtfully going over and over this, we have finally decided that it is time we allow jeans. Now, let me say this as strongly as I can, NO CUT-OUTS – NO HOLES - NO FRAYED – NO SAGGING. Do not come to the club in jeans that you would clean your house in or wash your car. This is still a Saturday night dance. AND MOST IMPORTANT – WE THE BOARD RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THIS POLICY AT ANY TIME. For those of you who do not want to see this policy change, let me just say that we still will be keeping a watchful eye so please don’t feel that the club is going to go down hill because of this. And remember, because we now allow them does not mean that you have to wear them. The main reason we have decided to change the policy is because it is becoming increasingly difficult for us to control this. If we turn people away because they have jeans on then we are turning away possible new members. If we let them in with jeans on then we hear complaints from our members. If we turn away one of our members with jeans on then we are offending them. And on top of that, we have members coming in with jeans on and trying to disguise them, which makes things uncomfortable for the board as well as our security people. We do not want to be patrolling the dance floor looking for people with jeans; we cannot win here no matter what we do, so we have decided to let people wear jeans and see how things go which means that it is all of you who will determine if this policy stays by the way that you dress. So please remember, you are coming to a Saturday night dance at the club, when you are wondering what to wear – think dress jeans. Now that summer is here please remember we still have a NO SHORTS policy. At this stage in life no one really wants to see anyone in shorts, therefore, we will keep this policy. If you missed Sweet Home Chicago you missed out on a great party. The entire weekend was filled with workshops, food, fun and lots and lots of great music to dance to. I want to thank the entire board for all the work that they do to make this such a great weekend, also thanks to Mike and Debbe Lapina, Gloria Medel, Ralph Dahma and Vicky Konewko and of course thanks to all of our volunteers who help us over the weekend. continued on page 2 Rockin' Times Joanne Kokalj President

July - August 2015

At various times over the years and most recently at our meet-ings over the past several months, we have discussed our dresscode. This topic of discussion is right up there with music in thesense that it is often talked about and brought up to the board. We have members who want to be able to wear jeans to the club and we have those who do not want to see this policy change. Well, after thoroughly and thoughtfully going over and over this, we have finally decided that it is time we allow jeans. Now, let mesay this as strongly as I can, NO CUT-OUTS – NO HOLES - NOFRAYED – NO SAGGING. Do not come to the club in jeans that youwould clean your house in or wash your car. This is still a Saturdaynight dance. AND MOST IMPORTANT – WE THE BOARD RESERVE

THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THIS POLICY AT ANY TIME. For those of you who do not want to see this policy change, let me just say that we

still will be keeping a watchful eye so please don’t feel that the club is going to go down hill because of this. And remember, because we now allow themdoes not mean that you have to wear them.

The main reason we have decided to change the policy is because it is becomingincreasingly difficult for us to control this. If we turn people away because they havejeans on then we are turning away possible new members. If we let them in withjeans on then we hear complaints from our members. If we turn away one of ourmembers with jeans on then we are offending them. So please remember, you are coming to a Saturday night dance at the club, whenyou are wondering what to wear – think dress jeans.

Now that summer is here please remember we still have a NO SHORTS policy. At this stage in life no one really wants to see anyone in shorts, therefore, wewill keep this policy.

Ending April 30, 2015 balances - Checking Account $8,635.63, Money MarketAccount $12,651.14. The Money Market account reflects the transfer of the endingbalance from the 25th Anniversary Account which was $2,551.26.

Discussed: Joanne read suggestions from two of our club members which were dis-cussed and each will be answered. Another suggestion was to split the 50/50, at thedances held at the ALH, three ways . . . this, too, was discussed and will beanswered. Two club members offered to purchase our new brass raffle drum.Discussed the upcoming SHC convention . . . vendors, DJs, dance instructors, work-shops and the Volunteer Sign-up sheets. We compared the attendance, as of the May13 meeting date, to 2014 and it is comparable. Changing the way we will do theTribute to the Vets, the theme and food for our Hospitality this year. The electionwill be held on May 30th and since the positions for re-election (Secretary,Hospitality/Volunteer Director and Technical Director) were unopposed Joanne willcast the necessary vote. After many, many discussions regarding allowing jeans atour dances, the board has voted, as long as the jeans are not frayed, ripped or haveholes, jeans will be allowed as of June 20, 2015.

JUNE 2015 RECAP

Discussed: The board decided to allow jeans that do not have holes and that are notripped or frayed at our dances and this will be announced at the June 20th dance. We finalized the SHC attendee counts, food to be ordered, vendors, etc. Looked overthe volunteer sign-up sheets for SHC. Discussed the upcoming 26th AnniversaryDance at the CCCC. We will be checking into different venues should we have a pic-nic in 2016. We will continue to sell club merchandise at both the ALH and SHC. Theboard will announce and thank Kay and Tony Ambrosio for purchasing the brass raf-fle drum to use for the 50/50 tickets, etc. At every meeting, we always discussadvertising, Constant Contact and Facebook.
