Introduction:Introduction:Introduction:Introduction:
Are you a fan of spicy food?
If so, you are in luck because hot peppers and hot sauces have been clinically
proven to provide a long list of health benefits! The reason behind this is because
they contain capsaicin, a chemical found in all hot peppers to some degree. The
capsaicin content of hot peppers ranges in various grades of intensity, which we
will discuss in detail in the first chapter of this report.
Hot peppers come in countless
varieties, and they each have
their own unique shape, color,
flavor, and heat factor. If you are a
lover of spicy foods, Scotch
bonnet and habanero peppers
are two of the hottest chili
peppers available. Other
popular choices that vary in
their level of spiciness include chipotle, jalapeno, cayenne, and ancho peppers.
If you already enjoy eating many of the above peppers, you could be receiving
major health benefits without even knowing it!
These include:
A reduced risk of cancer Protection from stroke and heart attack Advanced pain relief

Chapter 1: What Is Capsaicin?Chapter 1: What Is Capsaicin?Chapter 1: What Is Capsaicin?Chapter 1: What Is Capsaicin?
Capsaicin is the active ingredient in all of the chili peppers I mentioned above, and
it is the chemical that gives your mouth the tingling sensation that feels like its on
fire after you have eaten a hot pepper. It is a phytochemical that is found in most
peppers as a natural deterrent to prevent animals from eating them, and it is also
the main ingredient in pepper sprays that are used for self-defense.Who knew?
But beyond that, capsaicin is found diluted within many different foods, like salsa,
condiments, and even spicy sauces. Interestingly enough, when these foods are
consumed regularly in the diet, they offer a slew of health benefits with more and
more being discovered every day!
The majority of capsaicin in a chili pepper is found in its seeds and ribs, which is
why a jalapeno is normally much less spicy when the seeds are taken out. Hot
peppers that contain capsaicin normally are red or green in color, but there are
truly a multitude of different varieties to choose from.
To better understand the heat from each chili pepper, a chemist named Wilbur
Scoville created a heat measurement chart for chili peppers in 1912. This heat test
is named after him, and it is called the Scoville Organoleptic Test. In the original
test, pure ground hot peppers were blended with sugar water, and then they were
taste tested by a panel in differing diluted concentrations until they no longer
caused a burning sensation in the mouth. This allowed a number to be assigned to
each different hot pepper based on how much it needed to be diluted before the
heat was eliminated.
The Scoville heat factor is measured in units of 100, with sweet bell peppers
starting at zero and the legendary Ghost Pepper hitting 1 million Scoville units! In
laymans terms, the Ghost Pepper is something that you need to watch out for if
you want to keep your taste buds and sanity intact.

Here is the Scoville Heat Unit Chart for your reference:
In their natural form, red chili peppers contain large amounts of carotene andvitamin C, although yellow and green chili peppers are unripened and contain less
of both vitamins. As a part of a regular diet, hot peppers are an ideal source of B
vitamins, especially vitamin B6, as well as magnesium, potassium, and iron.
Common hot peppers containing capsaicin come in many different forms,
including:
Fresh hot peppers Dried hot peppers Hot sauce Chili seeds

All of these forms can be used to enhance your regular diet, give flavor to a dish,
and protect your health in the long run. The truth is that hot peppers containing
healthy capsaicin can be used in almost any and every dish, yet they are popularly
found in Latin, Asian, and Indian inspired cuisine. If you have ever gone out for
Thai food and have found your mouth on fire within a few moments, it is primarily
due to the large amount of capsaicin in the hot peppers used to prepare the meal.
Some of the most popular foods that include chili peppers are salsa, gumbo, Kung
Pao chicken, Indian curry, Cuban rice and beans, Creole rice and beans, Spanish
rice, Jamaican jerk chicken, Chile Rellenos, and even Pad Thai. This is a very limited
list of popular foods that contain capsaicin, and the truth is that this healthy
chemical in hot peppers is found in many more dishes than you probably even
realize. Its enough to get your mouth watering
In further chapters, I will offer you complete dietary guidelines to make
deliciously spicy meals that are not only tasty but full of the many health
benefits of capsaicin!

Chapter 2: Capsaicin Fights Cancer!Chapter 2: Capsaicin Fights Cancer!Chapter 2: Capsaicin Fights Cancer!Chapter 2: Capsaicin Fights Cancer!
As a lover of spicy food, you may be delighted to discover that capsaicin can
prevent cancer! In the March 15 publication ofCancer Research, ithighlighted a
study revealing that eating capsaicin could cause cancer cells in the body to die.
This spicy chemical found in hot peppers caused up to 80% of prostate cancer cells
to die in mice, and all prostate tumors that were treated using capsaicin were
reduced to 1/5 of their size. This discovery revealed that capsaicin stops human
prostate cancer cells from growing in both mice and petri dishes, according to the
lead researcher of the study, Dr. H. Philip Koeffler. Dr. Koeffler serves as the
director of oncology and hematology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and he is
also the medicinal professor at the University of California, Los Angeles.
So how much capsaicin did these mice eat to kill off their prostate cancer cells?
Interestingly enough, the mice within the study were given 400 mg of capsaicin
three times on a weekly basis, which translates to between 3 and 8 fresh habanero
peppers per week for a 200 pound man. This, of course, depends upon thecapsaicin content of the hot peppers, and habanero peppers are one of the
highest rated peppers containing capsaicin according to the Scoville Heat Chart
above. Habanero peppers are estimated to contain 300,000 Scoville Units, and
they are native to the Yucatn Peninsula.
One of the more popular peppers consumed in American cuisine is the jalapeno
pepper from Mexico, which ranges from 2,500 to 5,000 Scoville Units. If you
primarily eat jalapeno peppers within your diet, that amount would need to beincreased to equal anywhere from 3 to 8 habanero peppers based on the Scoville
Heat Index to receive the same benefits in preventing prostate cancer.
The main findings of the study showed that capsaicin inhibits NF-kappa Beta,
which is the molecular compound that encourages apoptosis in different types of

cells. Apoptosis is a cellular event that balances newer and older cells, and in
these circumstances, cancer cells often dodge apoptosis through mutation so that
they are difficult to control to prevent damage to the body.
Capsaicin further inhibits growing prostate cancer cells through regulating the
androgen receptors in the body, which are the proteins that control specific
growth genes. Much of the growth of prostate cancer cells depends upon
testosterone, meaning that an increased amount of capsaicin can cause these
prostate cancer cells to freeze instead of triggering their growth. Capsaicin also
inhibits the amount of androgen receptors produced by prostate tumors to
regulate and shrink the tumors in size.
This is a very important capsaicin finding, especially for men all over the United
States. More men develop prostate cancer than any other type of cancer, and
232,000 new cases are reported on a yearly basis in the United States alone. From
these diagnoses, 30,000 men die each year from prostate cancer, representing
13% of all newly diagnosed cases.
Bottom line? Include generous amounts of capsaicin in your diet as a man to
protect and inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells!

Heart!Heart!Heart!Heart!
Eating hot peppers regularly that contain capsaicin provides the even greater
benefit of protecting the heart by:
Reducing cholesterol Helping the body dissolve fibrin to prevent blood clots Reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke
In fact, studies have shown that cultures around the world that liberally eat hot
peppers often have a dramatically reduced risk for stroke and heart attack than
other cultures that do not normally eat capsaicin in peppers!
Eating capsaicin frequently stimulates the cardiovascular system and lowers
cholesterol and blood pressure. This process is entirely necessary to prevent
hardening arteries and blood clotting by dissolving fibrin, as I mentioned above.Furthermore, capsaicin provides antioxidant benefits, which is entirely crucial to
preventing disease and illness.
What is an antioxidant?
Antioxidants prevent damage in the body by neutralizing harmful molecules that
are called free radicals. Many antioxidants are found in vitamins, which are
naturally available in fruits or vegetables and as supplements. Free radical damagecan come from a number of outside sources, like smoking, pollution, and even sun
exposure. High amounts of free radical damage in the body will injure cells and
leave you at risk for such fatalities as a heart attack or stroke.
The antioxidant defense of capsaicin makes it vital to protect the health of the

heart, and it also offers the added benefit of preventing bacterial infections.
Dr. John Christopher, an herbalist nicknamed Dr. Cayenne because of his in-
depth research of the healing powers of hot peppers, consistently studied the
benefits of using capsaicin to protect cardiovascular health. He even went so far as
to make the claim that large doses of cayenne, containing capsaicin, could stop a
heart attack while it was in progress!
It seems that Dr. Cayenne was ahead of his time because today, science has
established that capsaicin does have a proven ability to protect the heart.
Scientists from the University of Cincinnati have proven that capsaicin can
potentially stop a heart attack in progress if it is applied topically by being rubbed
onto the skin in the form of a salve. This simple remedy alone could be enough to
prevent damage to the heart in the case of a heart attack, and studies have
shown that this method reduces cardiac cell death by up to 85% when used
during a heart attack!
Bottom line? Capsaicin is deliciously spicy and essential to a healthy heart!

Chapter 4: Capsaicin Offers PainChapter 4: Capsaicin Offers PainChapter 4: Capsaicin Offers PainChapter 4: Capsaicin Offers Pain
Relief!Relief!Relief!Relief!
In the previous chapter, I discussed using capsaicin topically to stop a heart attack
in its tracks, but did you know that topical capsaicin is also a proven remedy to
treat osteoarthritis pain?In fact, it may even help relieve the chronic pain
associated with diabetic neuropathy.
The reason for this is that capsaicin inhibits Substance P, which is a neuropeptide
that transmits pain signals to the brain. This substance can cause swelling in the
nerves, which results in sinus pain and headaches. Studies have proven that using
capsaicin topically will prevent migraines, cluster headaches, and even sinus
headaches.
For this reason, capsaicin has powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Since
capsaicin inhibits Substance P, which causes inflammation in the body, it is
commonly used as a treatment for psoriasis, arthritis, and diabetic neuropathy.
Common symptoms ofarthritis include inflammation in the joints, swelling, stiffness, and limited range of motion. Since capsaicin has such potent anti-
inflammatory benefits, it can relieve much of the swelling and stiffness
caused by arthritis to further increase mobility.
Psoriasis is a common condition of the skin that results in irritation andredness. Most people suffering from psoriasis have thick scales and flakeson the surface of their skin that often become inflamed and irritated,
meaning that capsaicin will provide much-needed anti-inflammatory relief
to reduce swelling and redness caused by this skin disorder.
Lastly, diabetic neuropathy is a common side effect of diabetes, which

results in nerve damage because of high blood sugar levels in the body. This
nerve damage can result in tingling, numbness, and pain caused by chronic
inflammation, which can be quickly remedied through the use of topical
capsaicin.
Research was conducted in an eight week study using topical capsaicin cream at
.075% to relieve pain caused by diabetic neuropathy. After eight weeks, there was
a significant improvement in patients suffering from chronic pain that interfered
with sleep and regular activity, resulting in a 90% improvement from the use of
topical capsaicin overall.
Capsaicin can be purchased for pain relief over the counter without a prescription
necessary. There are a number of products that contain capsaicin at the local
drugstore, but it is still important to follow directions from your physician and on
product packaging. For pain relief for any or all of the above conditions, capsaicin
should be applied topically 3 to 4 times per day by rubbing a capsaicin cream or
gel into inflamed and affected areas. Make sure to wash your hands well after
using this type of capsaicin topical treatment to prevent any contact with or
irritation in your eyes!
As another potential capsaicin home remedy, some
patients have seen results by drinking cayenne juice
to ease arthritis pain, or you can mix 1/8 teaspoon
cayenne pepper, cup apple cider vinegar, and
cup water to create a solution for topical treatment.
This can be applied to neuropathy pain, sore muscles,
and swollen joints for immediate relief!
Bottom line? Get much needed pain relief with
topical capsaicin!

Digestion!Digestion!Digestion!Digestion!
To add yet another item to the long list of capsaicin health benefits, capsaicin has
also been considered as a potential cure for inflammatory bowel disease.
Capsaicin is commonly used by many patients that suffer from this condition to
relieve cramps, bloating, diarrhea, and stomach pain. There is still much more
research necessary to link capsaicin with curing inflammatory bowel disease, but
again, the results seen are traced back to the fact that capsaicin depletes
Substance P, the compound in the body that transmits pain signals to the brain.
Many scientists believe that this has much to do with its healing potential in
treating the chronic pain associated with inflammatory bowel disease.
In a study conducted by Duke University, capsaicin was used to kill the bacteria in
the body called H. pylori to prevent the development of stomach ulcers. This Duke
team of researchers also verified that capsaicin blocks the nerve cell receptor thatoften triggers inflammatory bowel disease to provide potential relief to a number
of related gastric disorders that plague up to 2 million Americans.
Whether or not you suffer from inflammatory bowel disease, you can take
inspiration from many of the cultures that frequently eat hot peppers and use
capsaicin to promote healthy digestion!
Capsaicin stimulates blood flow in the body when it is eaten, and the stomach andintestines will begin to manufacture vital digestive juices to aid in healthy
digestion and nutrient absorption.
Again, capsaicin also provides natural disinfectant and antibacterial benefits to kill
countless intestinal parasites and harmful bacteria in the body that can hinder

digestion. As a side benefit, eating hot peppers will also fight bad breath!
To receive these healthy digestive benefits from capsaicin and even treat
inflammatory bowel disease, hot peppers can be used in oils, vinegars, sauces,
and other flavorings. Even adding a pinch of ground cayenne to a glass of water is
a wonderful home remedy for relieving diarrhea and stomach issues, and when
hot peppers are ingested, they will stimulate digestion, relieve gas, and prevent
stomach pain.
As always, make sure not to rub your eyes or other sensitive areas of your body
when you are cooking with and eating hot peppers that contain capsaicin to
prevent irritation!
Bottom line? Eat the spicy foods you love and make your gut happy!

CongestionCongestionCongestionCongestion!!!!
By now we have established that capsaicin has amazing antibacterial benefits to
protect your digestive health and prevent infection in your body.Even further,
these antibacterial benefits have been proven to prevent sinus infections and
relieve congestion!
Eating capsaicin regularly will prevent chronic sinus infections and sinusitis, and
since most hot peppers containing capsaicin are so spicy, they help to stimulate
mucus secretions to clear blockage from your nose and relieve nasal congestion.
Additionally, capsaicin in the diet can also treat many sinus symptoms associated
with allergies.
If you are someone that suffers with chronic sinus infections and seasonal
allergies, this natural chemical may be exactly what you are looking for to clear up
congested sinus passages without having to take over-the-counter medication!
Small doses of capsaicin on a regular basis prevent nasal congestion, meaning
that you no longer have to dread the adverse effects of seasonal allergies.
This process works because capsaicin in hot peppers makes mucus thinner so
that it moves out of the sinuses and the lungs. Since capsaicin has antibacterial
benefits, it will prevent bacterial infections in these areas, and the process canalso work to strengthen the lung tissue and prevent emphysema.
Interestingly enough, the first FDA approved capsaicin nasal spray called Sinus
Buster recently hit the market. This nasal spray relies primarily upon the natural
benefits of capsaicin, and it was invented by Wayne Perry, a chronic sufferer of

cluster headaches and sinusitis. After trying every medication known to man, he
finally went the natural route and used the power of capsaicin to relieve his

Chapter 7: Capsaicin Burns Fat!Chapter 7: Capsaicin Burns Fat!Chapter 7: Capsaicin Burns Fat!Chapter 7: Capsaicin Burns Fat!
Besides protecting the body from serious and harmful diseases, capsaicin also has
an added benefit for anyone out there hoping to maintain a healthy weight.
Capsaicin actually works as a thermogenic agent, which means that it boosts the
metabolism. This process alone turns your body into a calorie and fat burning
powerhouse.
Did you know that many of the popular fat-burning supplements on the market
use capsaicin as a primary ingredient?
Simply eating spicy foods can significantly boost your metabolism for 20 minutes
after you have finished your meal. What a fantastic way to burn a few extra
calories without having to jump on a treadmill! As I just discussed that capsaicin
promotes healthy digestion, it will also simultaneously suppress the appetite as
vital nutrients are quickly absorbed and used by the body. This will dramaticallyand naturally enhance your weight loss results by boosting your metabolism and
curbing your appetite simply by eating more hot peppers in your diet.
Furthermore, scientists from Taiwan have discovered that eating capsaicin will
cause fat cells in the body to self-destruct! Within this study, scientists used cells
called pre-adipocytes that develop into fat cells and infused them with capsaicin
for 8 days. The cells exposed to capsaicin died before they could become fat cells,
and the study participants that took capsaicin had a significant boost in theirresting metabolic rate between 30 and 60 minutes after using the capsaicin
extract. Over two weeks, the subjects of the study had their body fat reduced by
70%, with the greatest body fat reduction in those who had higher body fat!

The important thing to note from this study was that the
subjects legitimately lost fat and not just water weight by
increasing their capsaicin intake over a period of two weeks.
So how does this apply to your regular life? First of all, focus on a balanced diet
and exercise program that includes liberal amounts of spicy peppers. It is also a
good idea to eat hot peppers or take cayenne powder 20 minutes before working
out to give you a significant boost in fat burning while you exercise.
Bottom line? Eat more capsaicin and fit into your skinny jeans!
