Day 2 • To Selous Game ReserveAfter breakfast, set off to the airport to board your light aircraft en route to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Selous Game Reserve, the largest on the continent. The populations of wild dog, hippo and lion are unsurpassed in Africa, and it is likely that more than half of Tanzania's elephants are found in this expansive reserve. 3 Nights (B, L, D)
Day 3 - 4 • Selous Game ReserveDiscover the vast wonders of the Selous by vehicle and on foot during two full days in the reserve. Sheltered in a grove of palms on the shores of Lake Nzerakera, part of the watery byways of the Rufiji River system, your camp is perfectly located to take in the wildlife while sipping sundowners or dining on a boat out on the lake. (B, L, D)
Day 5 • To Ruaha National ParkDepart by light aircraft and head west to Ruaha, the largest national park in Tanzania. Situated under magnificent shade trees on the banks of a seasonal river in the remote southern sector of the park, your remote camp will give you a true taste of the bush. After getting settled, begin your explorations of this pristine wilderness this afternoon.
Day 6 - 7 • Ruaha National ParkSpend two full days exploring the park on game drives and guided walks. Seek out great herds of buffalo as well as giraffe, hippo, crocodile, and lion. Track the large populations of endangered wild dog, and perhaps set out on foot to see evidence of the elephants digging wells in the dry river beds. (B, L, D)
