HospitalityHospitalityHospitalityHospitality Throughout the year we will use this space to offer some
suggestions, some thoughts, some challenges to help us stay
focused on our goal of hospitality.
Bishop Morneau: Embracing Hospitality. Eighth Step: A Hospitable Mind.
In this step, Bishop Morneau says we have to intentionally look for the graces that come to us every day. We miss so many, because we don't look for them (we are not awake and waiting). So often we fail to really listen to each other or enter into real dialogue with each other. Listening and dialogue are rare these days. When they are not deliber-ately cultivated and fostered, our minds become closed and we become entangled in prejudices of our own crea-tion. Our heart becomes cold and love cannot grow. When this happens there is no room to welcome others into our lives. There is no room for hospitality, no room for the stranger and no room for grace. Pay attention to your own behavior this week. See if you really listen to others (especially those with whom you live). See if you enter into dialogue with others or just speak what you think with no willingness to expand your thinking by hear-ing what others think.

Thank you to all our parishioners who contribute to St. Brigid Parish through Electronic Fund Transfer using their credit cards. Since many credit cards have recently
been compromised or have been issued a new expira-
tion date, we may need to update your card infor-
mation in order to process your donation. If you have recently been issued a new credit card by your bank, please contact the Parish Office at 614-761-3734 with your new card number and expiration date. St. Brigid of Kildare is very grateful for your continued support & generosity.
Children’s Liturgy of The Word will not meet during the summer months, but will resume in September. Have a fun, faith filled summer.
The Carr Nursery will not be open during the sum-mer. It will reopen in September. We are currently welcoming new volunteers to help with the 9:00 am and 10:45 am Masses. Please contact
Sonia Aina-Steinbauer at [email protected] for more information on volunteering.

Check the statements that apply to you. __ I think being prepared for a decline in health and end of life is very important.
__ Myself or a loved one is terminally ill. __ I am interested in talking about the end of life for philo-sophical, medical, legal, and my Catholic faith reasons.
__ I currently have a loved one in critical condition. __ I work in a health care or related field. __ I have recently lost someone very close to me and we were so unprepared.
__ I want to live fully and I understand that difficult conver-sations are sometimes the most threatening.
__ I want to help my loved ones make decisions regarding my health.
__ I absolutely do not want to talk about anyone’s death and surely not my own death.
__ I want to talk about death but my spouse wants nothing to do with the conversation.
If you checked one or more of these statements, then come to dinner and talk about death.
Only 20 spaces left! RSVP NO LATER than August 30, 2016. To register call the Parish Office or e-mail [email protected] and give your name, address, phone number and e-mail address. Once you have registered we will send a packet of materials, preferably by email. - Sr. Teresa Tuite, O.P.
Guidelines for 2017 Mass Intentions
Due to the high volume of Mass Intention requests here at St. Brigid of Kildare, the following policy has been implemented:
1. There is a limit of seven (7) Mass Intention requests per family per year.
2. The 2017 calendar will open on Monday, August 15. 3. Drop off initial Mass requests at the church office begin-ning August 15 at 8:30 am. Requests must be made in writing and submitted as follows:
• Include your name and daytime phone number. • List intention and indicate if the person(s) is living or deceased.
• If you request a Sunday Mass, indicate time preferred. • Indicate if you need a Mass card(s). • Include Mass stipend, $10 per Mass, cash or check only. Make checks out to St. Brigid of Kildare. Write ‘Masses’ in the memo line of your check.
4. Mass requests will be processed in the order in which they are received.

We want to remember and offer our
prayers for those who have died.
Paul Buchanan died very suddenly on July

half) and son Alex Kendall are parishioners
of St. Brigid of Kildare. It was said of Paul
that he loved everyone and everyone loved
him. He was in the realty business in
Dublin. A Memorial Service was led by
Deacon Frank Iannarino on July 15, 2016. May Paul now
rest in peace in the loving, merciful arms of God.
