Key Hospitality Features

DRM is an encryption technology that is built into all of Samsung’s hospitality TVs. By law, HD/premium content must be encrypted to protect from pirating. The content encryption occurs at the source and must be decrypted by either the TV or a set-top box in order to display the content on the screen.

Digital Rights Management (DRM)

Pro:idiom™ is current industry standard for DRM

Samsung has it’s own DRM technology, LYNK™ DRM, which comes embedded in all Samsung Hospitality TVs

b-LAN is a chip embedded in Samsung HTVs that allows a SONIFI® interactive solution to be delivered over coaxial cable without additional external hardware (box) required. It supports the two-way communication required for features such as pay-per-view.

b-LAN for SONIFI® Integration

b-LAN available in 478 series only; Smart TVs do not require b-LAN chip since they are already IP-connected

All Samsung Hospitality TVs come with a 2-year commercial warranty with access to a dedicated call center. Avendra customers automatically receive 3-year warranties. Extended warranties (beyond 2 years) are available for purchase.

Damaged-on-Arrival Exchange

End users can speak to a Samsung Business Support representative to troubleshoot any technical issues, initiate exchanges for Damaged-on-Arrival (DOA) products, or help with warranty services for qualifying products.

Order processing within 24-48 hours

Delivery of replacement TV within 5-7 business days with removal of damaged TV

*Available within first 30 days post sale with Bill of Sale or Proof of Delivery

Warranty Repair

Standard two year manufacturer’s warranty with all Hospitality TVs. Extended warranty plans available for purchase

Call Center offers warm transfer to Service Center to speed up ticket/scheduling process

Tips to share with end users to avoid screen damage liability:

o Stock extra Hospitality TVs so you never have a room down o Have the TV unboxed and installed by a

certified professional o Visually inspect each box before signing the

Proof of Delivery (POD) o Refuse any unit with visible damage upon

delivery o If damage is identified after delivery, call 1-

866-894-0524 to report the issue immediately. Call within 30 days of receipt for optimal support.


Consumer vs. Commercial. It may be tempting for end users to buy less expensive consumer televisions for their hotel rooms, but this may end up costing them more in the long run. The differences are in the details when comparing commercial vs. consumer models.

Commercial TVs typically come with two year warranties and dedicated support technicians, familiar with hotel needs, who can provide on-

site services.

Consumer TVs have limited warranties (i.e. 90 days) that can be voided when TV is used in a

commercial setting. Owner would have to incur full cost of service, negating any savings

generated upfront.

DRM or Digital Rights Management technology makes it easier to deliver in-room entertainment to your

guests. Pro:Idiom™ is a hardware-based highly secure technology platform that provides rapid broad

deployment of HD digital content.

Consumer TVs do not come equipped with encryption technology to protect HD programming. A set-top box

would be required with each television which would significantly increase ownership costs.

No built-in encryption means higher costs on external hardware

Commercial TVs are compatible with technology solutions that allow content across hundreds of in-

room displays to be managed from one central location. This allows for much more efficient

operations of your hotel.

Ability to Manage Content from One Central Location

Commercial content management solutions cannot be operated with consumer TVs which requires more manual labor and costs to set-

up each in-room display individually.

MPEG or Motion Picture Experts Group is a compression format that allows digital information to take up less space on a device or during transmission. This format

compresses digital video and is commonly used to compress HD signals for satellite and hotel systems.

Consumer TVs do not come with MPEG-4 built-in which means receiving HD signals could be costly as satellite providers require more hardware in each guest room

and/or at hotel’s head-end.

Requiring More Hardware

Through advanced plug-and-play settings, hotel staff can activate hundreds of in-room displays with minimal effort.

Operations teams simply have to navigate three basic launch settings to synchronize multiple displays. More importantly,

commercial TVs offer lockable features to prevent guests from tampering with the settings.

Pre-set Hospitality Settings Make for Easy Installation

Consumer TVs lack the ability to lock-out guests from altering the TV settings. All Samsung commercial TVs come with lock-

out controls and volume limiters to prevent guests from causing any disruptions to your day-to-day business.
