L azio – which includes Rome, Italy’s capital

city – is a vast productive Region located in Central Italy. It stretches on an important area, rich in traditions, creativity, research and development activities, which produces some 10% of Italy’s national wealth.

National Confederation of Craft and SMEs. CNA mission is to add value to crafts and SMEs, serving as their partner to develope and promote the economic and social progress. This goal is pursued through a structured and widespread system of companies that offers integrated services

Sviluppo Lazio is the company of the Region of Lazio – where Rome is located - charged with

CONCEPTThe HospItality Stand Project aims at representing the best handmade and industrial products from Lazio – Rome’s Region – by showing the cross-section of a Hotel. A series of rooms and halls were reproduced in the stand. This required cooperation of thirty-one companies, which are displaying their products thus showing their creativity, manufacturing skills, technological innovation, and ability to create synergies and work together on specificand ambitious projects. Hence, HospItality is a high-level production experiment, and a model that can be reproduced in Hotel areas. A group of small and medium-sized enterprises participated in the experiment, which marry exclusive manufacturing ability as well as top business and professional skills.

DIRECTIONS

Visitors can walk through HospItality and its multiple sections reproducing a Hotel lobby, restaurant, conference hall, classical and modern-style bedrooms with relating bathrooms, as well as a steam bath, getting the feeling of being in a real hotel. The external area of the stand was designed as an exhibition area for companies

manufacturing outdoor products, including lighting fittings, outdoor furniture, or special items such as Plexiglas chairs and gold swings.

The stand was designed considering the products and production specificities of the participating companies, based on an integrated approach that allowed developing the HospItality stand fittings, which include absolutely new and original

> A fused-glass skylight, featuring precious glossy black and gold finishings, made by also including two poor materials such as plastic film and Coca Cola cans.

Another important theme was multifunctionality – a canopied bad featuring an embedded TV set and a sink in the back, which turns into a water area thus creating a complete zone, just like a table that turns into a business meeting table. Hospitality is a Lazio Region international initiative realised in collaboration with CNA Roma and Lazio.

The company is currently managed by Plinio Verongalli, who has followed in the footsteps of his father Ambrogio, a cabinetmaker from the Veneto region who moved his business to Rome in the 1930s, opening up a craft “workshop” with the tools left to him by an uncle from Montebello Vicentino.
