ABOUT HORUS VISION Horus’ cutting-edge technology improves shooting accuracy at extended ranges and increases the likelihood of a first-
round hit. Horus’ reticles and simplified shooting methodology improves accuracy at any distance and can make anyone
an expert marksman. Horus also leads the way in ballistics software. Our ATrag™ ballistics algorithms were developed
and refined by the former chief of ARDEC's small-arms division, William C. Davis. Horus Vision was founded in 2000 and
is headquartered in San Bruno, California.
HORUS RETICLES OVERVIEW Horus reticles are an evolutionary advancement in reticle design. Our patented Horus Grid replaces outdated mildots,
eliminating the need for dialing knobs and counting clicks when making adjustments. Some Horus reticles provide
additional features including advanced speed shooting features, moving target holds, grey-light guides, and MOA/IOA
range finders (see Comparison Chart of Horus Reticle Features in this manual). Horus reticles are intuitive and so easy to
use, they actually reduce training time to mere hours. They’re built with ergonomically precise, high-quality optics, and
unlike bulky mil dots, the Horus Grid does not obscure targets.

INTRODUCTION TO THE HORUS GRID Our patented Horus Grid replaces outdated mildots. Adjustments are placed while looking through the reticle, without
dialing knobs or counting clicks. All Horus reticles contain the Horus Grid. Implementation varies in appearance from one
reticle to the next, but the same underlying procedures apply. See the List of Horus Reticles in this manual’s appendix to
view variations of the Horus Grid.
Figure X: The H25’s implementation of the Horus Grid shown. Horus Grid features are shown in black; grey indicates H25 reticle features not pertinent to the Horus Grid.
5
KEY FEATURES
Figure 1: Key features of the Horus Grid are shown as implemented in the H25 reticle. Evenly spaced hash marks and drop lines form a mil grid.
Features of the Horus Grid:
Visually place target on appropriate horizontal and vertical grid lines to correct for elevation and windage while
looking through the reticle, no turning knobs or counting clicks
Secondary horizontal lines spaced exactly 1 mil apart allow precise elevation holds.
Large hash marks spaced exactly 1 mil apart along drop lines to compensate for wind, drift, speed of target, etc.
Small hash marks along grid lines enable more refined holds
Range finding, use small hash marks to precisely measure target image size
Second Shot Correction™, fail-safe method for correcting aim in unlikely event of missed first shot
6
VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL ADJUSTMENTS The Standard Horus Grid provides a purely visual system for placing adjustment holds, eliminating the need to dial
mechanical knobs. Instead of turning knobs, the shooter visually repositions aim up and down, left or right, using the
Horus Grid. It takes mere seconds and happens while looking through the scope, so your eye and mind stay focused on
target.
Example: 6-mil elevation adjustment, 3-mil left wind adjustment
Figure X: Vertical and horizontal adjustment holds are placed using the H25’s Horus Grid. The H25’s small hashes subtend to 0.2 mils. Note that
different implementations of the Hours Grid in other reticles may subtend to different measurements.
7
PLACING HIGHLY REFINED HOLDS WITH SMALL HASH MARKS
The Horus Grid’s small hash marks subtend to fractions of a mil, and are intended for placing highly refined holds. In this manual’s examples, we show the H25 which subtends to 0.2 mils. Example: 7.5-mil elevation adjustment, 5.6-mil right wind adjustment.
Figure X: The H25 Horus Grid being used to place an adjustment hold for7.5 mils elevation and 3.6 mils right for wind. Note that the H25’s small hash marks are spaced 0.2 mils apart.
8
SECOND SHOT CORRECTION™ Second Shot Correction is a fail-safe method for rapidly correcting aim after a missed first shot. This method is purely visual, requires no calculations or turning knobs, and is extremely fast. It’s unique to our patented reticle grid, so only Hours reticles have it.
Figure X: Second Shot Correction is depicted using the H25’s Horus Grid.
9
RANGE FINDING Any portion of the Horus Grid can be used to measure targets for rage estimation. You must know the real-world size of
your target for accurate range finding. If you guess or use the wrong size, your range determination will be inaccurate and
your shot will likely miss.
Figure X: Target range estimation is depicted using the H25’s Horus Grid. Note that the H25’s small hashes subtend to 0.2 mils.
You can use the same formula with English measuring units instead of metric, with the resulting range expressed in yards.
See Appendix’s Formulas section for details.

TECHNICAL DATA
HORUS GRID SPECS
Applies to Most Horus Reticles:
Horus Grid calibrated in USMC MILS
A circle = 6283 MILS
1 Mil = 3.60 in @ 100 yds
1 Mil = 3.438 inches @ 100 meters
1 Mil = 10.0 cm @ exactly 100 meters
Spacing between drop lines = 1 mil
Spacing between large hashes = 1 mil
Spacing between small hashes = 0.2 mils
Large hash lengths = 0.5 mils
Small hash lengths = 0.2 mils
Specific to H50:
Grid dots subtend to 0.5 mils
Hash lengths = 1.667 mils
Specific to H130:
Calibrated in Minute of Angle (MOA)
Spacing between drop lines = 5 MOA
Spacing between large hashes = 5 MOA
Grid dots subtend to 2.5 MOA
Specific to H70:
Horus Grid calibrated in Shooter’s Minute of Angle (SMOA)
1 SMOA covers exactly 1” at 100 yards
Spacing between drop lines = 4 SMOA
Spacing between large hashes = 4 SMOA
Spacing between small hashes = 1 SMOA
Large hash lengths = 2 SMOA
Small hash lengths = 1 SMOA
Specific to H25:
Range Finder calibrated in SMOA
WARNING: The 2% difference. With Horus Grids calibrated in USMC mils, you must check when reading books
and manuals to be sure that tables and math formulas are specifically set-up for U.S. Marine Corps format. Do not
use any data that is shown in U.S. Army Mil DOT format. If you use this data in any calculation, you will pick-up a
2% error. The problem created by this error becomes evident in ranges beyond 800 meters.
