cricket nets on Friday 7th December, Tuesday 11th December and Friday 14th December. Senior (Years 5 and 6 in 2019) trials will be held during sport time (9:15-10:55am) on the next 2 Fridays, 7th and 14th of December. Seniors should bring their cricket kit to these trials if they have one. Thanks, Michael Howard. PSSA LEAGUE TAG - Last Friday was the final week of PSSA League Tag for 2019 and with it our Junior 1s faced off in the Grand Final against Turramurra 1s. Would the hoodoo be lifted? After the pre-game prep talk our chargers were raring to go and had the look of winners about them. Very soon into the game they were playing like winners, great attacking plays and some incredible tagging and an almost faultless team effort saw them go to the half-time break 5-0 up and looking in the box seat. Soon after the second half commenced we scored another try and then Turrumurra scored their first, then another and another... Despite Turramurra's comeback our chargers managed to retake control of the game and finished the game 9-6 victors and PSSA League Tag Junior champions for 2019. With this they became the first Hornsby North Team to do so, Junior or Senior. Mr Hughes and I are very proud of this result and so to should our Junior 1s squad as well as all the other squad members. Congratulations to our other 3 squads for their fine efforts over the year and the fantastic way they have conducted themselves on and off the field. On a personal note it is with sadness that I inform you that I will be moving on from Hornsby North next year. I was very hopeful to get the result that we did last Friday and it was fantastic to see the elation on the kids faces when the final whistle blew. I have thoroughly enjoyed being apart of the PSSA League Tag Program from its inception to now and I would like to thank all the players and the parents who have been involved over the last 5 Years. And lastly, thank you to Mr Hughes for all his support, companionship and encouragement during this time. Brad Keyes. PSSA T-BALL/SOFTBALL - Hornsby North Vs Turramurra North P.S. Grand Final week and what a glorious day it was! The sun was shining and all of the Hornsby North players were ready for the most exciting game of the year. The girls’ team spirit was high and they were all cheering each other on. First innings, we had some exciting plays where Jen H. was pitching perfectly and getting 3 Turramurra North players out! Next we batted and had some amazing players smashing big hits and getting home runs! Second innings, we had some amazing pitches from Olivia L., where she was lucky enough to get a few players out. The team worked well together focusing on stopping as many home runs with great fielding. Final innings, the score was very tight. All of the spectators were on the edge of their seats. The girls fielded first and they had some amazing catches, but unfortunately Turramurra North got a few players home. It was 5-5 and our turn to bat. All we needed was 1 runner home and we had won! Every single player was cheering on each team mate that was batting. WE GOT NOT ONE BUT THREE HOME!!! Congratulations to the undefeated PSSA Softball Champions of 2018 – Hornsby North!!! You all deserved this win, because over this year you have shown great talent, skill, perseverance and determination. It has been an honour to be your Coach. Well done girls.

DANCE AUDITIONS - Dance auditions went extremely well, and we had a very large number of students audition this year. Unfortunately, not all students could be selected, but all danced their best, it was great to see so many enthusiastic boys and girls this year. This year we will be posting the names of the successful students on the door of the Hall. Please make sure you go to check and please look carefully. This will be posted up on Friday, 7 December. They will not be in Ensemble lists as they will be formed and finalised at the beginning of 2019. If you have any queries or concerns, please contact Mrs Reeves. Also, if you don’t wish to be in the Dance Program and you were selected, please let Mrs Reeves know ASAP. PSSA CRICKET - Our Junior boys competed in the Grand Final last Friday against a very good team from Berowra PS. We bowled first, and an excellent fielding and bowling effort restricted the opposition to 47 runs from 12 overs. The best bowlers were: Jayden M. (2/3, including a team hat-trick), Aryan K. (1/3), Jayden H. (0/1), Zac L. (0/1) and Riley P. (0/1). All of our batsmen contributed well, with each pair scoring between 5 and 10 runs. The match was very tense and evenly-poised, as we required 10 runs to win from the final 3 overs. However, terrific bowling and fielding from Berowra, saw us fall 3 runs short with a total of 44 runs. Congratulations boys on an outstanding season that didn’t quite end the way you deserved it to. Congratulations also to Jayden H. and Josh R., who led the team so well throughout the season. Thank you to all of the parents who drove the boys to and from their matches during the year: Mr and Mrs Westwood, Mrs Apostoloff, Mrs Hills, Mr and Mrs Kho-Thomas and Mrs Dyson (Vayriot). PSSA Cricket Shirts All Senior cricket shirts should be washed and returned to Mr Howard by now, but there are still 7 shirts to be returned. Can all Junior cricketers please wash and return their shirt by the end of this week. PSSA Cricket—Trials for 2019 Trials for next year’s teams will be held over the next 2 weeks.
