Past month’s events September 2012 was the month of “first celebrations” at the temple. Sri Sai Siva Vishnu Temple celebrated its

first year anniversary coinciding with Pournami

Sathyanarayana pooja. Ganesh Chathurthi pooja and

Visarjan were also among the highlights.

Temple’s first year anniversary One year has passed with a blink of an eye, since Sri Sai Siva Vishnu Temple was opened on September 1st last year. With many thanks to volunteers, devotees and well-wishers, this is a young and vibrant temple serving the Hindu community in the west.

Ganesh Chathurthi was celebrated on Wednesday 19/09/12. Ganapathi homam, abishekam and special poojas were performed with 108 banana archana. Thanks to all the sponsors and Mrs. Mahalakshmi Sankaran for the bananas. Following pooja, dinner was

served for over 150 devotees who attended the function.

Ganesh Visarjan took place at Sri Sai Siva Vishnu Temple for the first time, on Sunday 24/09/12.

The evening commenced with light bajans and a laddu auction by the devotees to raise funds for the temple. Thanks to Mr. Anil and team for raising $251. Your support is much appreciated.

This was followed by the Visarjan. The colourful clay Ganesha was taken for procession outside, with little Ganeshas carried by children. With dance, music and much excitement, the Ganeshas were immersed in a tank of water to complete the Visarjan. The night concluded with a hearty annadhanam dinner for all devotees.

A note from the author….

I take great pleasure in presenting to you Vishaya Vani. It has been my life-long

ambition to inform and educate our community of our Hindu tradition and practices,

especially to our young generation of Australian Hindus. Therefore, Vishaya Vani has

been created to enlighten our readers through Vishaya Vicharam (spiritual discussion)

and spread the auspicious news of Sri Sai Siva Vishnu Temple events. Particularly, I

hope the Mantra of the Month section will be of good use to all our readers, young

and young at heart.

I wish to thank my wife, Gayathri, for her time and effort in compiling this publication

(and future issues). Finally, I also thank all the temple volunteers, devotees and well-

wishers for their kind support. I hope you all enjoy reading Vishaya Vani and find the

information useful. God bless.
