Governor’s Message Brother's & Sister's

I would like to open this letter by giving a well deserved THANK YOU to

all. There were three big events during the month of May, the Policemen’s

Memorial Breakfast, the Run for the Wall and our annual Memorial Day Pic-

nic. The timing and coordination of putting everything into place was out-

standing. The food preparation for these events plus keeping the Lodge

meals on schedule was assume. This is 1472 PRIDE in action at it's best.

To all the full time workers, the kitchen staff and the volunteers. Again

Thank You for everything.

In the month of June we had our 60 Year Anniversary Celebration, Mas-

sey Cancer Golf Tournament, and our First Annual Car/Motorcycle Show.

Again a lot of time and coordination was put into make it a success. There

were many people were involved but our Volunteers made these event a hit.

The Chairmen were J.D. Langley and Butch Morris for the Massey Cancer

Golf, Brad and Dawn Ozmore for the 60 Year Anniversary Celebration and

Brian Carpenter for the first Annual Car/Motorcycle Show. Special thanks to

the kitchen staff for taking care of all the food service end of things.

The Queen of Hearts is growing and over $7,000.

Butch Morris and his team are doing a great job so let's give him the sup-

port. After all the Lodge wins too.

Bingo is doing GREAT; however our Volunteer Staff is getting tired. If you

can give one BINGO night a month, this would take some of the pressure off

the regular Volunteers on Sunday and Tuesday evenings.

Our membership campaign is in progress and we had our first drawing

June 2nd. Ricky Miller was our winner of the $20 Moose Buck’s for May.

July we'll have some adjustments to make. The Moose International Con-

vention will be in St. Louis the first weekend. Which is also our 4th of July

picnic. To help take some of the work load off everyone Bingo is cancelled

Sunday July 3rd. The kitchen staff will be on vacation from July 9th - 16th so

it will be an all Volunteer Staff cooking. We are also bring back our menu

with the specials.

With all we have going on in lodge our volunteers are the key to success.

All volunteers are appreciated come on out and join the team you may just

have a little fun.

**On Saturday October 22, 2016 from 1:00pm - 3:00 pm the Lodge is having

a Town Hall Meeting in the Ballroom. All active LOOM & WOTM are encour-

aged to attend.

Format follows Roberts Rules of Order. The Boards goal is to listen and take

heed to the direction you as members want the Lodge to go.

Snacks and drinks provide immediately following. (tea & coffee).

**Starting 1 July donate Winter Hats and Gloves to the Soldiers children at

Fort Lee. There is a box in the lobby for your donations.

At the end of the month after your locker dues expire, it will be emptied and you can pick up the contents from the bartender. If you aren’t sure when they are due, check with the bar-tender (she has a list) or call the office. Enjoy the 4th and please BE SAFE!

COME TO THE BEST MEAL IN

TOWN

Senior Regents Message The 60th Anniversary Celebrations were a huge success. Our facilities were packed with members and guests enjoying these events. The Massey Cancer Spaghetti Dinner Benefit and the Father's Day Breakfast were well attended and enjoyed by all. July is traditionally our most patriotic month. Just in case you are asked a Trivia question, the Statue of Liberty, 'Lady Liberty' as she is fondly called, has become a symbol of freedom for all people. The Stat-ue of Liberty was a gift from France in 1884. Did you know the statue's complete name is Liberty Enlightening the World? Speaking of Trivia, come to the Social Quarters at the Lodge every second and fourth Thursday night at seven PM and Dawn Ozmore will test your skills. You might even take a prize or two home. Win or not, you will enjoy the evening. During the ancient Julian calendar, July was the fifth month and called QUINTILIS. The name was changed to honor Julius Caesar whose birthday fell on the 12th. As we know it, July is a month of patriotic hol-idays. Canadians celebrate Dominion Day on the first, the French cele-brate Bastille Day on the fourteenth and Americans celebrate Independ-ence Day on the fourth. Your lodge celebrates Independence Day in a big way with an out-door picnic. There is fun, music and good food for all. If you came to the Memorial Day picnic, I'm sure you will be back for this one. Come and celebrate with old friends and make new friends. If Bingo is your 'sport', come and try you luck every Sunday and Tuesday evenings. (Due to the International Convention, there will be no Bingo on July 3rd.) Bingo begins at 6:30 PM - come early to reserve your favorite table. The Senior Lunch will be July 21st. Come and enjoy a delicious lunch and visit with friends. Our volunteers are awesome making these events possible. A great big thank you, volunteers, for all you do. We can always use more help. If you would like to join in on the fun, we have a job for YOU. Madelyn Collier Senior Regent To make the world a friendly place, show the world a friendly face. SMILE

Hopewell Moose Lodge Family Center’s first car & bike show

Another GREAT event!!!! 7:05am on a Satur-day morning, a lone biker stood in the park-ing lot of the Hopewell Moose Lodge Family Center, wondering if anyone was going to show? As the cool temperature warmed and the sun rose, here came the rumble of a classic muscle car, then another and another and finally another motorcycle. THEY CAME! to The Hopewell Moose Lodge First Annual Car & Bike Show! We had it all! The hope was to have at least 20 cars, truck and motorcycles to attend, 50 was a dream and ultimately 67 entrees participated in what I hope we continue as an annual event. We had old, we had new, we had cars, trucks & bikes. We had US and foreign built rides. This was a great time

for all. The proud owners sat around and admired each others rides, swapped stories and compared notes. All while par-ticipating in this won-

derful fundraiser to support our US Military and their families through Ft Lee's Holi-day Helpers. THANK YOU, ALL. This wouldn't have been possible without our host, The Southern Knight Cruisers and help from the Hopewell Moose Legion for serving lunch, Colonial Heights WOTM for serving breakfast, John Hall DJ'd and MC'd all day & organizations such as Survi-vors4U and the River City Bombshells for providing assistance and additional fund-raising efforts. What a way to wrap up our 60th anniversary of The Hopewell Moose Lodge Family Center 1472, doing what we do so well by empowering our community to help our community. I am so thankful to have been a part of this wonderful opportunity to give a little back to those who give so much. Through the registration fees, ven-

dor's fees, individual donors and the generosity of The Hopewell Moose Lodge Family Center, at the Hopewell Moose Lodge General Meeting on June 16, 2016 we were able to present a check to Ft Lee's Holiday Helpers. The Southern Knight Cruisers raised $1,947 and the Board of Officer of the Hopewell Moose added to the total in order to make an even

$3,000. Brian Carpenter, Chairman

Art LeMire won a plaque for Top 25 (Red SSR)

Bubba Bishop won for Best Harley (Blue & Green Bike)
