New Program as Announced at the Annual Banquet

As discussed at the Typhoons banquet, we are very pleased to roll out the new program for the Typhoons City League with a focus on getting back to a fair distribution of teams and PROPER DEVELOPMENT of all the players in Hong Kong.

No matter what your level or commitment, we are so pleased to finally have things set up in a way to ensure all divisions stay as competitive as can be, and every player is getting the added practice and coaching they need at every level.

No more simultaneous game times and practice to go along with games will be a big step forward for all players at every level.

As we look at the entire landscape of players and the state of hockey, we strongly feel we have come up with the best possible way to make sure every age, level, and player is being looked after in the correct way.

Hong Kong is such a unique place in hockey with the obstacles we all know we face, and this is the start of working through those things and still getting done what needs to be for the betterment of hockey in town and beyond.

Please carefully read through and more importantly begin the registration process immediately.

We have moved to a much smoother online registration and payment process that will eliminate a lot of the odds and ends the linger each year. It will boost our communication not only on the whole, but within teams and programs as well.

We have worked tirelessly over the past month and half to bring this to a reality and couldnt be more excited about what the new year will bring!

Atom A DivisionProgram Description

Tuesday night @ Elements (no more 6:30AM start times) Game and team practice every week 4 teams in the division 21 weeks (including playoffs) of games and PRACTICE A TRUE Development program for 10 and Under aged players Example of Game Day

5:30PM Teams 1 and 2 go on the ice for team practice with their coaches to work on learning the game. Positioning, Team Play, and learning hockey concepts in all areas of the game.

After 30 Minute Practice, Teams 1 and 2 go right into their game in the usual format of 5 on 5 three periods. 6:50PM Teams 3 and 4 go onto the ice for their team practice with their coaches. After their 30 minute practice Teams 3 and 4 roll right into their game in the usual format of 5 on 5 three period game.

Teams will be put together in a proper and true draft type process with the 4 coaches. And their will be a special focus in the first three weeks of the season to evaluate how things are shaping up so the 4 coaches can adjust any glaring issues with the rosters by week 4.

Also, now with the Atom A having their own day and not playing simultaneous with another division, all coaches from Typhoons Office and Outside coaches that coach with us, are able to work directly with the players throughout the season!!

We feel that this division and its new and much improved structure will be one of, if not the, most important divisions of the entire city league. This is the age where all of our kids need to begin the proper development process, and as you see, a heavy move in the focus of the Division has been done with that in mind.

As we are always listening to questions, suggestions, and concerns from all players and parents, we are exited to finally be able to take the necessary steps to ensure the players are getting extra ice time with the PRACTICE that day, and make sure the players are getting the best possible coaching throughout the year as they can.

These players will truly be able to begin to develop and get ready for the next step up at a faster pace. With the new set-up, players being able to play in two divisions at this age will be on a case by case basis, as we look at numbers as well as those that are, for example, on the younger side of Under 10 and might make the U10 Super Division but as a later selection. Another words, players who are prominent U10 Super Division players, will be allowed to play in Atom A as well, therefore upsetting the balance and development of the division.

Super Division U10Program Description Sunday nights @ Festival Walk Game and team practice every week 3 teams in the division. Once a month 1 team will play 2 games that night 15 Regular Season Games with Practice, Plus the Playoff games which will also have practice Highly Competitive Division for players who are ready for the next level focus. Therefore players that arent ready

arent out of place and not developing, and those that are ready arent in a place where something is not challenging. Example of a Game Day (Just an example as when things progress on the year, the game lengths/practices lengths will

as well. SD U10 in general will run between 6PM and 8:30PM) 6:00PM Teams 1 and 2 come out for practice with their coaches. 6:30PM Game One starts between Teams 1 and 2 7:20PM Team 3 comes out for their practice with their coach. 7:50PM Team 3 and Team 1 begin Game Two of the evening

This Divisions focus will be to bring an atmosphere of competitive level tournament type games each and every week to the City League. A sense of what it means to play at the level each and every week will finally be stressed to its fullest.

Teams will be made in a TRUE and PROPER draft setting with coaches, therefore maintaining the upmost competitive competition we possibly can. As the first three weeks of the season play out, coaches will reassess after the third week to make any necessary changes for what is in the best interest of the league.

Players will begin to advance to full TEAM Hockey, learning to play the game the right way both mentally and physically. This division will bring players 10 and Under the feeling of really learning the game on a conceptual level, the importance of knowing where to be and WHY, the importance of being a teammate, and for the first time on a weekly basis begin to understand why the game of hockey is a TEAM game. 5 Players on the ice working together with and without the puck to achieve something!

Playing these types of games week after week, and finally being able to have some practice time with their team, now the incline of player development will rapidly begin to go up week after week.

Players in this division that qualify and/or tryout and make, for example, the SD12 Division at MegaIce will be allowed to play in both Divisions. Price with The New Setup of This Division

Program Description

Sunday mornings @ MegaIce 21 Games (with playoff cap) along with Practice each week 4 teams in the division Competitive Division for 12 and Under players with a developmental focus on playing the game the

right way. Systems, positioning, SPEED, puck movement, and preparation. Gameday on Sunday morning will follow the previous setup of the other Divisions with Practice.

First two teams will Practice with their coaches then play their game. Other two teams will follow with their practice, then immediately into their game.

Beginning of the season will focus more on the good practices, then hopefully shortening them for longer games as season moves along and those concepts should be happening on ice.

Super Division U12

Program Description Tuesday nights @ Elements

15 game regular season plus playoffs after

4 teams in the division

Similar Set-up to last Season but with a more for those who still want to develop.

Games at 8:00PM and 9:00PM Tuesday Nights

Longer games than the usual 13 minute runtime. Will either go stop time or have up to 18 minute periods.

Beginning of the season will have some practice with shorter games then move to the longer game.

Players in this league will have call up ability when the need is there for the Elite U17 League or if marked improvements deems it necessary.

Mix of Ages from older Bantam to some PeeWee with

with league organizers watching closely through registration

process and first skates for proper adjustments.

Typhoons Series A

Super Division U13 EliteProgram Description

Saturday mornings @ MegaIce 15 game regular season plus playoff games (playoffs could be done in a few different ways) 2 teams 15 minute, stop time periods Elite division to focus on the next level development of players that are ready for it. True, competitive level tournament type games played week in and week out. Will begin to see

players improvement of how the game is played take bigger jumps week to week. Players will be expected to be at the rink early, meetings, film, and the like before and after games (obviously varied week to week). Every shift will matter and what players are learning will be able to put into gameplay at the highest level possible.

Will be able to receive a more detailed level of coaching and expected to learn and begin to play what is being taught

Games will begin at 7:40AM on Saturday Mornings. Bringing this level of hockey game in our current environment is the #1 way to bring the player

at this level to the next one in the shortest amount of time. Games will have a level of seriousness to them not seen in the city league before. How hockey is truly played as a team and 5 players working together will get to be understood

and put into work!

Super Division U16/17 EliteProgram Description

Saturday Nights @ MegaIce Games will be played at 7:15PM on Saturday Evenings Qualified players in this division will have opportunity to also play in the CIHL on Thursday Evenings

as an approved league for more development (yet obviously in a different way) 15 game regular season plus playoffs (playoffs could be done in a number of different ways) 2 teams 15 minute, stop time periods Elite division to develop the strongest to focus on the next level development of players that are

ready for it. Will be able to receive a more detailed level of coaching and expected to learn and begin to play

what is being taught True, competitive level, tournament type games played week in and week out. Will begin to see

This is the biggest step this age player has ever been offered in Hong Kong and the City League thus far, and the improvement from beginning to end will be immense.

We have worked to finally get a time of day game for this age player that will allow for proper game preparation and all out tempo this age/level player needs to grow as a player.

How hockey is truly played as a team and 5 players working together will get to be understood and put into work!
