In 2005, the airport handled some 3.4 million tonnes of cargo and this growth trend is expected to continue in the com- ing years. To meet this robust growth in its cargo business, HKIA will continue to expand its cargo related facilities, including a fur- ther expansion of Asia’s largest express cargo terminal operated by DHL which opened in 2004 and Asia Airfreight Ter- minal’s new facility in 2006. Asia’s superhub and gateway to ChinaDetermined to maintain its position

as the world’s premier hub for inter-national aviation, Hong Kong Inter-

national Airport (HKIA) is committed to providing safe, efficient and reliable serv-ice to all of its customers.

Connectivity and convenienceAn extensive air network together with Hong Kong’s strategic location make HKIA Asia’s superhub and the gateway of China. Some 85 airlines link HKIA with more than 150 cities around the world over 5,600 flights a week.

With frequent and regular flights to more than 40 cities in China, HKIA is the preferred choice of international travel-lers to and from the mainland, in partic-ular the rapidly expanding Pearl River Delta (PRD) region.

Special facilities and processes make HKIA easily assessable to the PRD’s population of 48 million. Established in 1962, Vestergaard Com-pany A/S designs, manufacturers and

markets state-of-the-art ground service vehicles for all aircraft, from small com-muter planes to the largest commercial aircraft.

Today, the company focuses on de-icing and toilet and water servicing units. With its Elephant® family of de-icers: the Beta, Beta-15, Gamma, MY and Delta, and its Toilet and Water Service units, Vestergaard can meet the full range of customer’s requirements worldwide.

The underlying philosophy in all Vestergaard’s products is to meet or exceed international standards for approval and regulatory requirements, to utilise leading-edge technology, to build in superior quality, and to provide reliable, efficient handling solutions.

Vestergaard products keep customer’s operation costs at a minimum by:

Customisation of equipment to suit users’ operation conditions;Highest standard of workmanship, quality and technology;Ultimate level of documentation,

service and product support.Vestergaard can swiftly and effi-

ciently supply spare parts, technical support and advice for all its products from its facilities in Denmark and the United States. Technical assistance and comprehensive inspections are available worldwide.

All Vestergaard aircraft de-icing designs aim to minimize fluid usage and manpower requirements, allow-ing de-icing operations to be per-formed swiftly, effectively and safely. Almost all Elephant® de-icers are avail-able with one-man operation, providing flexibility of manpower in all situations. The flexibility becomes even more evi-dent considering the Beta’s ability to oper-ate on all types of aircraft with engines running, the possibility for wireless data transmission and the high-airflow Forced Air system. Vestergaard’s patented Vis-coMax flow system for thickened fluids offered for all Elephant® de-icers gives maximum spray reach, while protecting the fluid’s viscosity.

Within the Beta family, inherent features

such as the basic equipment geometry, telescopic boom and ergonomic design all minimise glycol consumption, benefi-cial both for economic and environmen-tal reasons, while helping to keep de-icing operations safe.

The hallmark of the Elephant Beta-15 – Vestergaard’s de-icer flagship – is its very high reach, giving it a unique position on the market. With an eye level height of 15.5m, a nozzle height of more than 23m and a large tank capacity, the Beta-15 is currently the only truly mobile de-icing truck capable of effectively servicing the Airbus A380.
