DAY 12. You will be transferred back to the airport at Nhatrang in time for your flight to Saigon.

On arrival in Saigon you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

PARK HYATT, SAIGON

The Park Hyatt is the city’s most luxurious hotel and is just behind the city's famous opera house in Lam Son Square and is within walking distance to the main cultural and historical sites of interest. Rooms are elegant timepieces with stylish Vietnamese art adorning the walls, reminiscent of a bygone colonial age when Indochina was home to European-imported refined luxury. Its signature restaurant, Square one, is particularly impressive and will provide you with a rich gastronomic experience where “fresh from the tank” seafood is served on request.

After checking in, you will be taken on a private sightseeing tour of Saigon.

Saigon

Once the seat of power for the South Vietnamese government during the American war Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City as its officially known, is a fast developing metropolis and is very much the pulsing heart and soul of the country. Like so many cities in a globalising world, it is filled with contrasts, of wealth and of time old traditions alongside rapid modernisation.

The gentle flow of Tai Chi practised in the parks seems surreal as the rest of city buzzes all around, ladies in their Ao Dais whiz by on their mopeds and everywhere the fast pace and vibrant energy continues unabated. Lively local markets can be found here as well as upmarket boutique shops and trendy bars and restaurants. It is also possible to arrange trips to the tunnels of Cu Chi nearby or perhaps a boat trip deep into Mekong Delta where one can visit local villages where the pace of life remains as it has done throughout the ages and is altogether much slower.

DAY 13. You will be met and taken on a private sightseeing tour to the wildlife rescue sanctuary just at Cu Chi.

DAY 14. You will be met and transferred to the airport in time for your flight to Siemreap in Cambodia.

Cambodia’s landscape is an exotic blend of rice paddies, sugar palm plantations and remote jungles. It is a fascinating country, with a rich cultural heritage and at times a turbulent history; it is home to the world’s largest religious building, the magnificent Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples of Angkor. The temple complex was built between the 9th & 14th century AD and was the political, social and religious centre of the ancient Khmer empire which once stretched from Burma to Vietnam. Visible from space, it is one of the world’s most unique archaeological sites which has put Cambodia firmly on the world map as a unique destination. While most visitors come to see the marvels of Angkor Wat, Cambodia offers plenty of natural beauty and adventure for those willing enough to explore.

On arrival and after you have cleared immigration you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

HOTEL DE LA PAIX, SIEM REAP

This chic 5 star boutique hotel is within walking distance of Siemreap’s colourful markets and many restaurants and bars. Khmer design has been fused with an art deco style to create a wonderfully sophisticated, yet laid back peaceful ambience throughout the hotel. There are so many nice touches in evidence here, from the preloaded ipods in the rooms to the tasteful Khmer art adorning the walls to the chilled out seating beside the central courtyard.

There is also a luxurious spa in which to pamper yourself and the spa suites even have their own private roof terrace and plunge bath. This is an ideal hotel from which to explore Siamreap and the temples of Angkor and then in which to unwind at the end of the day. It is also reassuring to know that the hotel also helps to support the local community and guests can even sponsor local community projects.

After you have checked in, you will be taken for sundowner drinks with a view over Angkor Wat.

Angkor

To sum up the magnificence of Angkor’s temples in a few lines is impossible. Built between the 9th and 14thcenturies, the temples were devoted to Buddha and Hindu deities. Within the fortified city of Angkor Thom lies The Bayon, the third tier of which is lined by more than 200 huge, imposing carved faces which stare down from 54 towers. Other highlights include the Buddhist temple of Ta Prohm, which looks just as it did when the French explorer Henry Mouhot stumbled upon it in the 1860s, with its giant roots from the jungle seemingly reclaiming the temple. Then there is of course, Angkor Wat, a huge temple complex dedicated to Vishnu in the early 12th century and surrounded by a vast moat . Many of the temples are covered with fantastic carvings depicting religious stories and scenes from daily life.

Siemreap

The Gateway to Angkor, this once sleepy town has rapidly grown along with the increase of visitors who flock to see the temples each year. The changing face of the town is reflected by the changing faces of its visitors, no longer the preserve of dusty backpackers, now tourists of all ages and nationalities meander through the tree lined streets and boulevards. The town also boasts some very sophisticated and stylish hotels and restaurants. Thankfully, it still exudes a relaxed atmosphere and one could easily spend a week here, exploring the temples, visiting the local markets and enjoying the vibrant yet laid back nightlife.

DAY 15. You will be met and taken on a private sightseeing tour of the temples of Angkor, including a visit to Angkor Wat, Tha Prohm, and the Bayon.

DAY 16. You will be met and transferred to the airport in time for your flight home via Bangkok.
