SHIP
Did you miss the SHIP Grant Kickoff webinars for Iowa on May 30, 2018, and for Georgia/Florida on June 1, 2018?
You can view the recordings on the program dashboard. The Hospital Transformation Consortium is built around the “Triple Aim” of improving the U.S. health care system through the improvement of the experience of care, reducing per capita costs of health care, and improving the health of populations. We are excited to announce that the two primary focus areas for the SHIP FY 18-19 include financial stability and population health. The kickoff webinar re-cording will share more about the upcoming program and how your team can get involved. Who on your team could benefit from the program? Share the educational responsibilities with your team and include team members like, but not limited to: board members, senior leadership, mid-level managers, physicians, advanced practice practitioners, financial leaders, revenue cycle, BO team, hospital educators, marketing, case managers, care managers, quality directors, nursing staff, other medical providers, IT managers, community partners (other care providers, Public Health), and all staff and volunteers that come into contact with a patient.
New educational opportunities are coming your way from HomeTown Health and HomeTown Health University, brought to you by your HomeTown Health team and our growing business partnerships. As we kickoff the upcoming program year, be sure to monitor your emails for notifications regarding program information and registrations.

Remember to review the policy!
It has been brought to our attention that many
member hospitals can benefit from this Medicare
reminder, so our team of experts requested the
following be shared: one-day stays with both
Medicare and Managed Care claims are
appearing frequently. Medicare policy is that for
a patient to be considered inpatient, then the stay
should exceed two midnights. There are few
exceptions to this rule. Death and inpatient
claims, where a procedure is performed that is on
the inpatient only list, being two. Other than that,
very few one-day stays will be paid by Medicare
or Medicare Managed Care. So remember, as it
has been explained before, “To be a one-day stay
the patient would have to be admitted and the
hospital administered a treatment that created a
miracle; that within 24-hours the patient
condition improved enough to go home.” Please
use this example as a simple reminder.
Medicare: two-day rule
