John Grissom - Incumbent: John moved into the Pinery in 2008 after building his home. John is a general contractor with 17 years of experience in remod-eling, new construction and in-surance exterior restoration pro-jects. He truly enjoyed building his house from the design and staking of the ground all of the way through the interior finishes. He loves the way that homes are integrated into the surroundings of the Pinery, has enjoyed serv-ing on the Architectural Review Committee and would like to continue. Raymond Guth - Incumbent: As a seven-year-old boy in 1957, Raymond visited cousins in Col-orado Springs and was over-whelmed by the beauty of the mountains. His heart has been in Colorado ever since. It took quite a while, but he was able to physically move to Fort Collins in 1973 after a 5-year stint in the US Navy. Raymond and his family moved into their first Pi-nery home in 1987 and to their current home in 1991. Raymond’s qualifications begin as a college student. Sum-mers and weekends were filled with working for various con-tractors framing houses, in-stalling plumbing and electrical lines, pouring concrete, building fences and walls. As a home-owner in the Pinery, he has con-

tinued with those chores, installing hardwood and tile floors, replac-ing roofs, painting his home, re-placing a retaining wall with large decorative bricks, and terracing an ugly dirt berm into a beautiful flower garden. His experience in construction and background in IT system anal-ysis as a project manager helps him to keep projects organized for optimal completion. This training and experience enables Raymond to follow and implement the rules as managed by the ARC. Doing so is paramount to maintaining the beauty of the Pinery. This is our community. Together we can keep it the best. It has been a distinct privilege for Raymond to be of service to his community and neighbors, a privilege he would like to contin-ue. James R. Murray: As a Pinery resident for almost 16 years, and an independent contractor Jim is interested in further service to the community as a member of the Architectural committee. With over 30 years of construction ex-perience and having served as a member of the Saddlebrook Farms ARC for two years he believes he is very qualified for this position because of his understanding of Douglas County Building codes and the Pinery HOA expectations. Kenda Newman: Information for Kenda Newman was not available at press time. It will be available in the PHA office upon receipt.

Ben Osborn: After five years of visiting friends who live in the Pinery and desiring that life-style, Ben Osborn, his wife Amy and their dog Guinness bought their perfect home in July of 2015. They all spend time en-joying hikes and riding bikes through the neighborhood. Im-proving their home and land-scaping on the beautiful lot on which they live is also where they enjoy spending quality time. Ben has lived in Parker for over 11 years and is a residential Realtor based out of Downtown Parker where he enjoys building relationships with town officials and small businesses. He en-joyed a decade long, successful career as a Land Surveyor in Colorado and worked primarily in residential land development, including work on some earlier filings within The Pinery. Ben has been looking for an opportunity to donate time back to this community and he would like to apply his experience as a Project Manager and as a Real-tor to help maintain what he and Amy love about this neighbor-hood - the natural beauty, unin-terrupted mountain views and the mountain neighborhood feel. Lori Ridder: Information for Lori Ridder was not available at press time. It will be available in the PHA office upon receipt.

It’s a Great Day to Mitigate, Together By Einar Jensen, Community Risk Reduction Specialist South Metro Fire Rescue

Every day is a great day to prepare for wildfire, but it can be diffi-cult to stay motivated when you’re the only one trimming or raking. Because risk reduction is more meaningful when we combine efforts, South Metro Fire Rescue invites our neighbors in The Pinery to partic-ipate in Wildfire Community Preparedness Day on May 7. The National Fire Protection Association and Fire Adapted Com-munities created Wildfire Community Preparedness Day. It’s the per-fect time to spend a few hours working together as a family or with neighbors to prune vegetation, clean gutters, rake dead leaves and nee-dles, and create your family’s neighborhood evacuation plan. Your actions will help reduce your community’s wildfire risk and improve your family’s safety. Your actions will improve the safety for our family of emergency responders, too. Challenge your friends, your family, relatives, faith-based group or youth organization to develop a project and join others throughout the nation in making big changes. In advance of May 7, contact SMFR for a free home wildfire assessment at [email protected]. Additionally, SMFR and The Pinery Homeowners Association partnered to create a neighborhood mitigation plan. Members of the wildfire mitigation committee are developing a list of projects to re-duce the wildfire risk in the community.

Online Covenants for Pinery filings 1-8A can be found on our website,

What’s the Scoop on Poop?

D og feces are not only un-sightly, they can contami-

nate stormwater run-off, ending up in our reservoirs, creeks and other water supplies. Feces re-lease harmful amounts of nitro-gen fertilizer to the soil, which may encourage the spread of noxious weeds. Under Douglas County law, failure to clean up dog excre-ment on County-owned parks and open space may result in a fine of at least $50. So please be responsible and clean up after your dog.
