Juniors who are planning to attend a four-year university should mark Wednesday, October 25, 2017, on their calendars. This is the only date the PSAT/NMSQT(PreliminaryScholasticAssessmentTest/NationalMeritScholarshipQualifyingTest) will be given at Mountain View.

College-bound juniors take this test to qualify forNationalMeritScholarships,NationalHispanic Scholarships, NationalAchievementScholarshipsforAfrican-Americans, and a large number of corporate and special scholarships.

College-bound sophomores may take the PSAT test for FREEaspractice,butmustretakeitinOctoberoftheir

junior year to be eligible for the scholarships.TakingthePSAT/NMSQTisoneofthebestwaysforstudents to prepare for the SAT and ACT exams that are part of the university admission process.

When PSAT scores are returned in December, students receive a report of their responses and their actual test

booklet (with their scratch work included). These materials help students identify areas where they need extra preparation beforetheytakeSATand/or ACT in the spring of their junior year.

Students must register for the PSAT/NMSQT no later than September 15. Go to the Mountain View Advisement website, clicking on the 2017 PSAT Registration button, and filling out the form. Advanced freshmen who are interested in taking the test must see Ms. Schultz in the Advisement Office.

Dual Enrollment Through MCC

Is your student planning on attending college after they graduate? Is he or she taking a class that is eligible for dual enrollment? If so, then your student has the opportunity to start earning college credit while they are still in high school.

Students received dual enrollment packets during the first two weeks of school with instructions on how to register for dual enrollment.
