ANNOUNCEMENT: PHEASANT STOCKING MIX-UP

Greeting hunters,

Mistakes happen. During our first pheasant stocking date, Monday, September 30th, 2018, one of our stocking volunteers accidentally stocked fifteen (15) pheasants in the wrong part of Hunting Area N.

Normally the pheasant stocking area at Area N is LZ Crow.

However on Monday, September 30th, 2018, the pheasants were accidentally stocked in Area N near the bridge on Mineral Springs Brook, along the north part of Range Road 21. (See Map). Until Friday 10/11/2019, there are no pheasants at LZ Crow, Area N. After the second pheasant stocking date, Friday, October 11th, 2019 normal stocking in Area N will resume at LZ Crow.

Finally, hunters are reminded that New York State Law prohibits shooting of firearms within 500 feet of a house. The area near which the pheasant were accidentally stocked is very close to privately owned houses. As such, hunters are reminded they must take care to keep their distance when hunting from these residences. The attached map shows an approximate 500 feet zone (red stripe areas) and a recommended hunter avoid area (maroon boundary) with clearer natural boundaries. The green boundary area denotes areas at which pheasants were accidentally stocked.
