SUMMER SERVE 2014 Write a note of encouragement to someone going through a difficult time. Challenge your kids to plan how they would live on a welfare budget for a month (about $400/month for a family of four). Commit to praying every day for a month for a missionary or organization. Send a care package to a missionary or US serviceperson - http://www.give2thetroops.org. Have a job you need done around the house? Let the high school youth group do the dirty work for you, then make a donation to help them go on their missions trip this summer! Go to elmhurstcrc.org/events Join the Prayer Shawl team. Prayerfully hand-crochet a shawl or scarf that represents the love of God in a tangible way. Contact Ruth Fox at [email protected] or 630-833-5440. Pack meals at Feed My Starving Children (www.fmsc.org) or Elim Christian Services (www.elimcs.org) Purchase inexpensive items (examples: goats, chickens, malaria nets, medicines, Bibles) from the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (www.crwrc.org) catalog with your small group for a developing country. Write a letter to an inmate at Angola Prison. Contact [email protected] for details. Forego a nice dinner out. Donate what you would have spent to All God’s Children orphanage in Honduras (agcltd.org). Research a developing country online: pray for that country, prepare a meal from that country, or send a gift to a Christian organization which serves that country. Prayerfully track the progress of the Water Missions International project in Londalusi, Rote Island in Indonesia (http://elmhurstcrc.org/sllw). This project was funded by our August, 2013 “Walk in a Bucket” event and is expected to eventually provide clean water to over 3000 people. “Christ has no body on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which Christ's compassion for the world is to look out; yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good…” ~Teresa of Avila OPPORTUNITIES TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE… FROM HOME, YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD, COMMUNITY, ELMHURST CRC, THE WORLD HOME THE WORLD 149 West Brush Hill Road | Elmhurst, IL 60126 www.elmhurstcrc.org
