ENVOKING THE ARTISTIC MIND….
Art speaks where words are unable to explain, (T. A. Mathiole). The Academy’s art students
got the chance to go on a visit to the Kuona Trust Art Centre in Karen. The visit offered an
opportunity for the students to see the works of other artists and to be inspired in the
knowledge that their skills can offer an opportunity for them in future.
The Academy offers a platform for students to creatively experiment, develop and thrive in
various fields such as Art, thereby cultivating individual growth and nurturing creativity.
The students have also demonstrated great skills with some of their works being published
in the term two school magazine.

Visit to Kindaruma and Gitaru Geothermal power station
The Academy’s students pose at the Kengen Kiambere, Kindaruma and Gitaru signage on their way from the geothermal power plants on a Physics learning trip.
On 2nd of August, the Academy’s students were taken to Kindaruma and Gitaru geothermal
power plants on a physics learning trip. The students went to practically learn about geo-
thermal power production. They were tasked with questions from their tutors that were to
be explored and answered during the visit to ensure that the leaners got knowledge.
The Kengen team took the students around the facilities to the various machines that are
involved in the production process explaining the geological conditions that were at work
within the earths crust that provided the heat necessary for production of the electric power
among many others.

Winding down term two
The Academy closed for the first time since the admission of the learners in month of Febru-
ary 2016. This was a much awaited chance by both the faculty and the learners. Its was a
time for the leaners to see their family and friends within their communities as well as take
a much deserved rest. Guardians were warmly welcomed on arrival on the early morning
hours of Friday the 5th of August to a closing day event that was memorable with music en-
tertainment from the Glee club, report card collection, parent teacher consultations and
prize awards for those who had shown outstanding excellence in various fields such as aca-

Building the team spirit Staff First Team Building
The Academy had its first team building event that entailed a 3 day trip to Niavasha at the Great
Rift Valley lodge. The theme of the entire event hosted by 360° Holdings was ‘Razzmattaz’ which
meant Positive Energy. The staff were able to engage and relate with each other outside the office
environment for the first time since their induction at BrackenHurst Conference Centre. There were
many lessons learnt such as Trust, Team work and Communication among others and their pivotal
role to the success of the Academy. It was also during this time that the staff took up their role as
CLAIRE, the Very values that are the foundation of M-PESA Foundation Academy.
