Removal of OE rearview mirror.1)

For vehicle’s having OE rearview mirror with con-a) nector attached to back of mirror, continue below, step 1b. For vehicle’s containing OE rearview mir-ror without connector attached to back of mirror, proceed to step 1g on next page.

Disconnect 10-pin connector from back of mirror. b) Harness will be tucked up into the headliner at a later step.

Remove and discard wire harness cover, which is c) attached from mirror base to headliner.

Using a T-20 Torx head driver, loosen the screw on d) the mirror mount. (Fig. 1)

Slide the mirror base off of the button on the wind-e) shield. (Fig. 1)

Ensure the slack on the installed harness is removed before securing wire ties.•The harness routing needs to be followed as described to avoid interferences.•

Inserttheflatendofa4mmscrewdriverintog) the opening at the bottom of the mirror mount. (Fig. 2)

Slide the screwdriver upward into the center of h) the mirror mount until resistance is felt. Apply a small amount of additional upward force to lift a locking spring in the mount.

While still applying upward pressure with the i) screwdriver, grasp the mirror bracket and lift the mirror up towards the headliner and off the mirror mounting bracket.

Remove driver side kicking plate.2)

Pull up kicking plate to disengage the pawls. a) (Fig. 3)

Remove kicking plate from body panel.b)

Remove clip. a) (Fig. 4)

Removedashsidefinisherfixingclipswithb) panel removal tool and then remove dash side finisher.(Fig. 4)

Using panel removal tool, loosen driver side weather 4) strip and remove from top of A-pillar to scuff plate and from B-pillar. (Fig. 5)

Remove passenger side license plate lamp in nu-9) merical order shown. (Fig. 14)

Disconnect the license plate lamp connector.a)

Remove license plate lamp. b)

For vehicle’s without spare 10-pin OE mirror connector in overhead, proceed to step 10.

For vehicle’s containing the spare 10-pin har-c) ness used on the factory mirror, wrap 1 piece of foam tape around connector. (Fig. 15)

Using panel removal tool, tuck harness up into d) the headliner toward passenger side. En-sure harness is not interfering with headliner. (Fig. 15)

Install In-mirror RearView Monitor mirror.10)

Plug the harness connector into the back of the a) In-mirror RearView Monitor mirror.

Slide the In-mirror RearView Monitor mir-b) ror base over the button on the windshield. (Fig. 16)

Using a T-20 Torx head driver, tighten the screw c) on the mirror mount 1.5 - 2.0 Nm (1.3 ft - lbs). (Fig. 16)

Wrap 1 piece of foam tape around harness and d) using panel removal tool, tuck between head-liner and roof above EC mirror. (Fig. 17)

If a wire cover was removed from the OE mirror, e) discard OE wire cover and grab new wire cover from kit contents.

Route the harness into the groove of the wire f) cover and attach to the mirror mount. (Fig. 18)

Slide the forks on top of the wire cover, into the g) headliner. (Fig. 18)

Grasp mirror and rotate downward. Check to h) ensurewirecoversitsflushagainstwindshield.(Fig. 19)

If there is a gap between the wire cover and i) windshield, ensure there is enough harness slack from the mirror to the headliner. Adjust if necessary.

Wrap a piece of foam tape around harness at j) center of sun visor and where the headliner bends towards driver-side door. (Fig. 20)

Using panel removal tool, tuck the wire harness k) between the headliner and roof. (Fig. 20)

Route harness down driver-side A-pillar and l) secure to existing vehicle harness with 3 wire ties. (Fig. 21)

Wrap 2 pieces of foam tape around mirror m) harness (including red and black wires) and tuck between vehicle body and center dash. (Fig. 22)

Secure all mirror harness wires in footwell area n) to existing vehicle harness with 2 wire ties. (Fig. 23)

Separate o) Red and Black wires from mirror harness. Red and black wires will be used at a later step in the installation. (Fig. 24)

Secure mirror harness (p) without Red and Black wires) to existing vehicle harness with 1 wire tie. (Fig. 24)

Route harness to rear gate.11)

Secure harness to the inside of the vehicle a) body with 6 pieces of foam tape, below existing vehicle harness in scuff plate area, from A-pillar to B-pillar. (Fig. 25)

Continue routing harness around driver side f) luggage side box foam assembly, securing to vehicle body with 1 piece of foam tape in loca-tion shown. (Fig. 30)

Continue routing harness toward passenger g) side, following existing vehicle harness. En-sure harness is routed behind vehicle bracket, following existing vehicle harness. (Fig. 30)

Establish location to attach camera bracket to ve-12) hicle body.

Have a center punch tool readily available. a)

Ensure correct orientation of camera is estab-b) lished as per illustration. (Fig. 31)

Place camera bracket onto rear of vehicle, near c) passenger side license plate light opening and rear gate request switch. (Fig. 31)

Ensure camera bracket is pushed inward and d) toward the driver side of the trim to ensure the bracketisflushagainst“pocket”(aportionofthe bracket has been removed from the illustra-tion to better depict the necessary information). (Fig. 32)

Whilecamerabracketisstillpositionedflushe) against the “pocket”, use a center punch tool to mark the two outer holes. (Fig. 33)

Using center punch tool, mark the center f) hole just below the curvature of the opening. (Fig. 33)

Drill out camera mounting holes. 13)

Remove camera bracket from vehicle body. a)

Protect rear of vehicle body with tape or shop b) towel before proceeding to next step.

Using a drill and a 5/16” drill bit, drill out the two c) outer locating holes. (Fig. 34)

Using a drill and a 15/32” drill bit, drill out the d) center locating hole. (Fig. 35)

Insert a well nut into the two outer holes until e) the head of the nut is pressed up against the plastic trim. (Fig. 36)

Attach camera to camera bracket.14)

Orient camera and camera bracket as shown. a) Note locations of access hole, camera label and camera cable. (Fig. 37)

Attach camera onto camera bracket and secure b) using (2) M3 x 6mm Phillip’s screws (smaller screws) as shown. Note access hole in order to secure one of the camera screws. (Fig. 38)

Insert camera harness through center hole en-a) suring harness is routed downward toward the bumper. (Fig. 39)

Ensure correct orientation of camera and b) camerabracketareidentifiedandplacebracketonto vehicle body. (Fig. 39)

Ensurecamerabracketisflushagainst“pocket”c) (refer to figure 32 for reference).

Insert (2) M4-0.7 X 12MM well nut screws d) (larger screws) into locating holes and loosely secure using a Phillips screwdriver in a uniform manner. If a uniform manner is not followed whenlooselysecuringscrews,difficultycouldarise when trying to install screws. (Fig. 40)

Now securely tighten screws using Phillips e) screwdriver.

Route camera harness toward bottom of ve-f) hicle bumper area. (Fig. 41)

Locate vehicle grommet at rear trunk compartment 16) on passenger side.

Pull grommet outward, disengaging from ve-a) hicle body. (Fig. 42)

Cut rear grommet to allow for routing of camera har-17) ness.

Using side cutters, cut a slit in the grommet a) approximately 8.5 mm in length on the bottom side. Once complete, cut a small triangular portion (approximately 4.5 mm in diameter) out of the grommet to allow for the camera har-ness. (Fig. 43)

Route mirror harness through passenger side b) grommet and to the bottom of the vehicle near bumper area. (Fig. 44)

Locate both the camera connector and mirror c) harness connector. (Fig. 45)

Remove black electrical tape and tubing from d) mirror harness end, exposing connector, in order to connect harness to camera harness.

Route camera harness connector to mirror har-e) ness connector and connect. (Fig. 45)

Locate the 10mm ground bolt in driver side cowl 25) area (behind carpet) and remove. (Fig. 53)

Install ring terminal from Black wire of mir-a) ror harness over ground bolt and reinstall. (Fig. 53)

Ensure ground bolt is tightened to 5.9 - 8.0 Nm.b)

Bundle excess Red and Black harness wires c) and secure, along with mirror harness, to exist-ing vehicle harness with 1 wire tie. (Fig. 53)

Locate vehicle grommet at rear in trunk compart-26) ment on driver side. (Fig. 54)

If present, carefully remove electrical tape from a) existing vehicle harness to expose electrical wires. (Fig. 55)

Secure Green harness wire to existing vehicle re-27) verse circuit.

Locate a) Tan Wire in existing wire bundle at driver side rear trunk compartment. (Fig. 56)

See steps 20 - 24, pages 15 - 16 for wire tap b) installation instructions.

Green mirror harness wire will be used as the c) accessory wire.

Verify a clear image is displayed on the monitor. 28)

Reconnect negative battery cable. a)

Turn the ignition switch to ON.b)

With your foot on the brake pedal, move the c) gear selector lever into reverse.

A clear image should display in the left hand d) side of the mirror. (Fig. 57)

Move the gear selector lever back into park. e) The image should now disappear.

Turn the ignition switch to OFF.f)

Secure camera harness.29)

Wrap a piece of butyl gum around camera har-a) ness at the point where the harness lines up to the passenger rear vehicle grommet. (Fig. 58)

Re-install vehicle grommet to body, ensuring b) the slit in the grommet is facing downward. (Fig. 59)

Secure harness to existing vehicle harness d) in trunk compartment area with 2 wire ties. (Fig. 60)

Remove 2 pieces of foam tape from kit con-f) tents and attach to one another to create 1 large piece of foam tape. (Fig. 62)

Bundle excess mirror harness and secure to g) vehicle body with 1 large piece of foam tape. (Fig. 63)

Testing30) Reconnect the vehicle’s negative battery cable a) (if not already connected).Tighten negative battery terminal nut to 4.1 Nm.b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.c) Ensure vehicle is in a failure well lit area.d) Check to see that the green LED is illuminated. e) If it is not, press the “ “ button to turn it on. Cover the forward-looking photocell (located to f) the driver side of the wire harness connection on the back of the mirror) with a dark cloth or towel. After a few seconds, the mirror should begin to darken. Timing will vary with ambient lightlevelsandaflashlightmaybeshinedonthe rearward photocell if needed, to accelerate effect.Remove the cover from the forward-looking g) photocell and the mirror will begin to clear.Push the “ “ button to ensure compass dis-h) play shows either a direction such as “NE” or a “C”, and that it can be turned ON and OFF.Push each Homelink® button one at a time i) and verify that the LED indicator to the left of the center switch illuminates with a red LED. Re-install the remaining components, referring to the 32) service manual for the vehicle

Clean interior of vehicle.33)

Set Compass Zone34) With the display turned “ON”, push the “ “ a) button for 3 seconds, until a number appears in display (numbers correspond to regional compass zones). Press and release “ “ button to scroll through b) zone numbers.Release “ “ button when correct zone c) number is displayed. Zone number will disap-pear and display will return to showing either a directional heading or a “C” after 5 seconds of no switch activity.

Calibrate Compass35) Drive vehicle in circles (360°) at 5 mph or less a) until compass display window shows a direc-tion.

Use caution when re-installing interior components to avoid damage, scratches, or breaking of mounting •clips.Refertothevehiclespecificservicemanualformoreinformation.Trim pieces found to have witness marks or broken clips are not to be reinstalled. •

9. Post Installation Check Sheet

Inspect the vehicle interior and exterior for damage.

Ensure all trim panels are fully seated properly.

Confirmtrunk/cargolight.

Confirmproperoperationofvehiclesystems.

Reset radio presets to the recorded settings.

Confirmdriversidespeakerindriversiderearpanel(ifequipped).

Confirmbackuplamps.

Confirmlicenseplatelights.

Place the User Guide in the glove box.

Checkthetrimforproperflushfitafterre-installingtheinteriorcomponents.

Verify In-mirror RearView Monitor has the correct amount of rear bumper present. Cut out the “Go-No-Go” gauge below and place on mirror display (dimensions of cut out must be measured prior to cutting to ensure accuracy of printer).
