Authorised Dealer The reseller who has entered into a contract with the original manufacturer to sell their electrical appliances, and/ or retailer selling electrical appliances with the original manufacturer’s standard warranty in Hong Kong where applicable. Authorised Repairer Hong Kong electrical appliance repairer appointed and/or nominated by the Service Provider on case by case basis. Blu-ray/DVD Player The home electrical appliance with “Blu-Ray/DVD Player” clearly shown on its product description/instruction manual/ item description on the Proof of Purchase. Any gaming console and home theatre system is not defined as “Blu-ray/DVD Player”. Breakdown The sudden and unforeseen failure arising from any permanent mechanical, electrical or electronic defect. Covered Appliance The brand new appliance of Television, Air-conditioner, Blu- ray/DVD Player, or Other Appliance that: (i) is less than 5 years old from the original purchase date; and (ii) its Original Purchase Price is ranged HKD 3,000 to HKD 30,000 during Cover Period; and (iii) is imported to Hong Kong by the respective electrical appliance brand’s Hong Kong Authorised Dealer; and (iv) is purchased by You or Your Family; and (v) has at least 1 year original manufacturer’s warranty in Hong Kong; and (vi) is installed and used in your Home. Home The building or the house, apartment or flat, at the situation mentioned on the Schedule/ Certificate of Insurance, used for domestic purpose only. Original Purchase Price The actual purchase price of the appliance, which is the final price or price after discount if applicable and it is clearly printed/shown on the Proof of Purchase. For the appliance came with the 1st hand property provided by land developers, the Original Purchase Price will be determined by benchmarking current selling price of similar models in the market, whereas the Service Provider has the sole discretion to define the Original Purchase Price. Whether or not the Service Provider’s services are offered or provided is a matter of absolute discretion of the Service Provider for which the Company shall accept no responsibility or liability. Nor shall the Company be responsible or liable for the acts or omission of services of the Service Provider. The provision of services by the Service Provider and/or the acceptance thereof by the Insured shall constitute a contract between the Service Provider and the Insured separate and independent of the Insurance with the Company. DEFINITIONS OF WORDS

Air-conditioner The home electrical appliance with “Air-Conditioner” clearly shown on its product description/instruction manual/item description on the Proof of Purchase. Heater is not defined as Air-Conditioner.

Authorised Dealer The reseller who has entered into a contract with the original manufacturer to sell their electrical appliances, and/ or retailer selling electrical appliances with the original manufacturer’s standard warranty in Hong Kong where applicable.

Breakdown The sudden and unforeseen failure arising from any permanent mechanical, electrical or electronic defect.

in Hong Kong; and (vi) is installed and used in your Home.

Home Appliances Extended Warranty Service (“Extended Warranty”) is provided by Inter Partner Assistance Hong Kong Limited (“Service Provider”).

Proof of Purchase Original merchant receipt/invoice issued by the Hong Kong merchant store where the Appliance was purchased that clearly shows all the following information:

(i) Date of Purchase; (ii) Description of the model and its model number; (iii) Original Purchase Price; (iv) Surname of You and Your Family, or the address of

the Home; (v) Hong Kong Address of the merchant store.

Service Provider Inter Partner Assistance Hong Kong Limited.

Television The LCD/LED/Plasma television with internal TV tuner/digital TV receiver. Any device which lacks a TV tuner is not defined as Television.

Waiting Period The first 30 days from the effective date of this Extended Warranty.

You/ The Insured

The Insured named in the Schedule / Certificate of Insurance.

Your Family

Your spouse, children, parents and relatives permanently residing with the Insured.

DESCRIPTION OF WARRANTY SERVICE Extended Warranty covers Breakdown of the Covered Appliance during Cover Period. In the case that the assistance is needed, the Insured shall contact the Service Provider at 2862 0127 and state:

(i) the policy number; (ii) name of the Insured; (iii) a brief description of the Covered Appliance’s

mechanical breakdown.

If the information provided is valid, the Service Provider shall provide the following services:

1. Tele-diagnosis for breakdown The Service Provider conducts a preliminary tele-diagnosis in 24 hours on the basis of information provided by You/ Your Family. During that diagnosis, the Service Provider will assist You/ Your Family to identify the nature of the malfunction and try to fix the problem.

Should the preliminary tele-diagnosis fail, the Service Provider will arrange the conference call between You/ Your Family and the Authorised Repairer within 24 hours to try to fix the problem.

2. On-site Inspection & Repair Service If the problem remains unresolved after tele-diagnosis, the Service Provider shall organise an on-site inspection by the Authorised Repairer within 48 hours, except Public Holidays including Sundays and adverse weather, upon the Service Provider’s receipt of Proof of Purchase for service validation.

The Service Provider shall bear the cost of on-site inspection, the repair cost and reasonable cost of

materials parts and labour. In the case that the Covered Appliance is required to repair at the Authorised Repairer’s workshop, the Service Provider organises and bears the relevant transportation cost.

3. Provision of new replacement unit In case the Authorized Repairer diagnoses the Covered Appliance is beyond repairs or the repair cost is higher than the replacement value of the faulty Covered Appliance, the Service Provider will arrange and, after applying depreciation, pay a new replacement unit of similar features and functionalities, but not necessarily of the same model or same brand, within 10 working days (except Public Holidays including Sundays and adverse weather, subject to availability of the model and brand of the new replacement unit in the market) to Home. The Service Provider has the sole discretion to repair or offer new replacement unit and to determine the model of the new replacement unit.

Depreciation applies to the Covered Appliance when the new replacement unit is arranged from the Service Provider. The Insured shall pay the Service Provider a shortfall, if applicable, equivalent to the difference between the depreciated value of the faulty Covered Appliance and the purchase price of the new replacement unit. The depreciation table for the Covered Appliance is listed below:

4. Repair Appointment Assistance for Appliance under Original Manufacturer’s Warranty If the Covered Appliance is under the original warranty period, the Service Provider shall arrange a conference call for You/ Your Family and the original warranty service provider to make a repair appointment, and facilitates collection of the breakdown details of the Covered Appliance from You and Your Family directly, so that the appointment shall be made in one call resolution with maximum efficiency.

In the case that the original warranty service provider cannot be reached on the telephone line, the Service Provider shall contact the original warranty service provider within reasonable time to arrange a repair appointment on behalf of You or Your Family.

In case of additional information required and the repair appointment can be made within one call, the Service Provider shall contact You/ Your Family to collect the relevant details to complete the repair booking. You and Your Family shall bear the cost of the repair under the original manufacturer’s warranty.

CONDITIONS 1. Condition

to prevent accident in order to have the full protection of the Extended Warranty. Otherwise the Service Provider

may refuse to provide Extended Warranty

2. Territorial Limit The Extended Warranty mentioned in the above “Description of Extended Warranty” applies to Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, the New Territories and outlying islands of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, where are accessible by Public Transportation, except the restricted areas where entry permit is required to enter.

3. Time limit Extended Warranty is applied up to the last day of the 5th year from the date of purchase of Covered Appliance.

4. Authorised Repairer Service Hour Tele-diagnosis, repair & replacement by the Authorised Repairer will be carried out: From Monday to Saturday 10:00a.m.-8:00p.m., except Public Holidays, Sundays and the following adverse weather conditions such as typhoon signal no. 8 or above

and black rainstorm signal.

5. Fraud If any request for benefits made under the Extended Warranty is determined to be fraudulent, or if any fraudulent means or Covered Appliance(s) are used by the Insured or by anyone acting on Insured’s behalf to obtain benefits, all benefits of the Extended Warranty will be forfeited.

6. Liabilities of the Service Provider Any kind of third parties or professionals (Authorised Repairer or authorised service provider or Authorised Dealer) to whom the Service Provider refers to the Insured will be independent contractors/maintenance service providers responsible for their own acts and will not be employees, agents or servants of the Service Provider.

The Service Provider undertakes to exercise due care and diligence in the appointment and/or referral of any service provider to assist the Insured. The Service Provider assumes no responsibility for any advice given by any third parties or professionals (except the Service Provider’s associate companies and/or its contractual partners). The Insured has no right of recourse against the Service Provider by reason of its referral of or contact with a third party or professional (except the Service Provider’s associate companies and/or its contractual partners).

EXCEPTIONS

The Extended Warranty will exclude the following Items: 1. The Covered Appliance

(a) is not imported to Hong Kong from its respective Hong Kong Authorised Dealer;

(b) is powered by Liquefied Petrolium Gas (LPG) or Coal Gas (Towngas)

(c) is damaged by accident; (d) has been repaired, dissembled by any 3rd parties

other than its original manufacturer’s repairer(s) or repaired outside Hong Kong;

(e) is sold as demonstration or display item; (f) has been used or installed in any place not previously

declared as Home (unless the Insured can provide residential address proof that the Insured has previously resided in that place);

(g) is not solely for personal use but also for commercial use;

(h) is designed for professionals and/or for professional use even if these Covered Appliance(s) are set and used at Home;

(i) is designed to operate without any connection to the main supply;

(j) does not belong to the Insured/ Your Family (k) is used in Home that has been entrusted, rented or

borrowed.

2. Accessories or peripherals such as cables, dishwasher baskets, oven accessories, remote controls.

3. Consumables and parts subject to wear & tear (gradual deterioration associated with the age and use of the Covered Appliance) as described in the manufacturer’s maintenance booklet, such as but not limited to bulbs, lamps, filters, fuses, door seals, belts, drain pipes, hoses.

4. Glass parts or components of thermal insulation of the Covered Appliance.

5. Any damage due to the alteration or recall action initiated by or being of the responsibility of the manufacturer.

6. Any modification to the Covered Appliance or use which is not in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions or use of any accessory which has not been approved by the manufacturer.

7. Application of incorrect or abnormal electrical and/or water supply to the Covered Appliance.

8. Foreign bodies (unwanted matter that has entered the Covered Appliance), neglect, wilful abuse or misuse of the Covered Appliance and/or any damage caused by the Covered Appliance being used after any fault became apparent.

9. Any services rendered without the Insured’s or the authorised representative of the Insured’s presence.

10. Any costs related to scaffolding.
