Dr John JV McMurray is a Professor of Medical Cardiology and Deputy Director of the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences at the University of Glasgow, UK. He has also served as a distinguished member of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) faculty, and has chaired several guideline committees, including the 2012 ESC Heart Failure Guidelines task force. Professor McMurray is a member of the editorial board of the New England Journal of Medicine and several other leading cardiovascular journals, including the European Heart Journal and Circulation. He is recognized as being one of the most inuential biomedical researchers in the world owing to his many high-prole clinical trials in heart failure, coronary heart disease, atrial brillation, and diabetes.
Prof Dr Michael Böhm
Dr Michael Böhm is a Professor of internal medicine and cardiology and director of internal medicine (cardiology, angiology, and intensive care medicine) at the University of Saarland, Homburg, Saarland, Germany. He has served as president of the German society of cardiology; and his special interests include the pathophysiology and therapy of heart failure. In particular, Prof Böhm has been involved in studies on signal transduction in the failing heart and in vascular biology. Professor Böhm has been the principal investigator in several international multicenter studies and has written more than 350 original papers, book chapters and review articles. He has obtained several awards from scientic societies, the most important being the Theodor Frerichs Award of the German Society of Internal Medicine, which he received in 1989 for the discovery of mechanisms in heart failure. Professor Böhm is a reviewer for most recognized scientic journals in the cardiovascular eld and is a chief editor of the Clinical Research in Cardiology journal.
Dr Bernard Kwok
Dr Bernard Kwok is Singapore's rst qualied transplant cardiologist, and he established Singapore's rst multidisciplinary Heart Failure Programme at the National Heart Centre of Singapore (NHCS). He was the Director of the Programme, and continues to care for patients with advanced heart failure and heart transplant recipients as a Visiting Consultant at the NHCS.
