The Living RainforestOn Wednesday, Year 4 went to The Living Rainforest. We saw lots of Rainforest animals such as Toucans, Assassin Bugs, a Sting Ray, Poison Dart Frogs, Goeldi’s monkeys and enormous fish. There were two Greenhouses, the first one had ginormous leaves on the plants! We learnt how plants and animals adapt and survive in the rainforest. It was the best school trip!

THE BIG FAIRTRADE AFTERNOON TEAMonday 7th March 2016

2.30pmA reminder for you all about our FairtradeFortnight celebrations on Monday. The children are invited to take part in a whole-school bake-off this weekend, using as many Fairtrade ingredients as they can! Your creations should then be brought in to your class on Monday morning, along with a recipe card, for your teachers and the Co-operative to judge. You are invited to join us for our afternoon tea in the hall from 2.30pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

A big thank you to the Co-operative who came to visit us on Monday to tell us a bit more about what they do to support Fairtrade. They brought us all ‘goodie bags’, including some Fairtrade ingredients to use for our bake-off! Happy baking!

YEAR 5 LITERACY WORKAs part of their Literacy work on 'Argument and Debate', the children have been discussing whether or not school uniform should be compulsory.

The children's views are very mixed. To support their written work, we would like to offer the children (in Year 5 only), the opportunity to come to school on Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th March in their own clothes. As a class, we will evaluate the our views, including whether the behaviour and attitude of our learning improves or deteriorates.

There are, however, no long term plans to introduce non-school uniform.

Head LicePlease can all parents check their child’s hair over the weekend

as we have been notified of several cases of headlicethroughout the school.

We have been advised by the School Nurse that the best way to treat your child’s hair is to wash as normal, put on lots of

conditioner and comb through with a nit comb.If we all check our hair at the same time, hopefully we can

eradicate them from the school.
