Holy Redeemer Catholic Church Our Mission Statement: The mission of Holy Redeemer Parish is to be a Catholic community centered in Christ as revealed through the Holy Scripture, Sacred Tradion and the Church's teaching authority. The Holy Spirit empowers us to reach out and build God's Kingdom as we worship, educate, serve and evangelize. 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time The reading from Exodus recounts how unhappy the Israelites were about their situation. Even though they escaped the slavery in Egypt, the hardships of their journey discourage them. They focused on what they had lost and blames Moses for their problems. It is a human tendency to focus on our problems and seek to blame someone. Every day we have to make choices. Most of them are small things: When to get up, what to eat, what to wear, how to do our job, etc. They are our choices and they have consequences that may seem good or bad at the time. The secretis to learn to focus on our blessings, seek the Spirit's guidance in making choices (even small ones) and look for the lessons that the consequences are teaching us. Wishing for the past and seeking to blame others gets us no where. You must lay aside your former way of life and acquire a fresh spiritual way of thinking. ~Ephesians 4:22-23 August 1st 2021 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time Welcome to worship as we gather to praise the God of all creation, our Savior Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit who guides us in love. Holy Redeemer Catholic Church

Our Mission Statement: The mission of Holy Redeemer Parish is to be a Catholic community centered in Christ as revealed through the Holy Scripture, Sacred Tradition and the Church's teaching authority.

The “secret” is to learn to focus on our blessings, seek the Spirit's guidance in making choices (even small ones) and look for the lessons that the consequences are teaching us. Wishing for the past and seeking to blame others gets us no where.

You must lay aside your former way of life … and acquire a fresh spiritual way of thinking.

August 1st 2021 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Welcome to worship as we gather to praise the God of all creation, our Savior Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit who guides us in love.

We want to welcome back all those parishioners we haven’t seen for awhile. It’s nice to see you again.

Group Meetings are back!

Groups can start holding their meetings again. We need the name and contact information for each

group and you need to mark the calendar in the office as to the time and date of your meetings. The kitchen is still “off limits” until further notice. Please make sure you mark the dates and times of your meetings and/or events on the calendar in parish office so we make sure there are no “conflicts”.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of:

Connie Weber (Sally Krajcir’s mother)

Bill Hutchinson (Funeral August 14th @ 11:00 am

& Rosary @ 10:30 am)

How deep is your faith?

Lyrics to the Bee Gees’ 1970s hit song “How Deep Is Your Love” came to mind as I pondered the “depths” of my faith. Sometimes I prefer to stay securely in the shallow end, while other times I fearlessly launch off the diving board, ready and willing to be drenched by God’s love.

If you’ve ever tried to coax young swimmers to jump into the deep end of a pool, you may remember their excitement (and relief) after they finally take the plunge into your arms. To experience that joy in your spiritual life, evaluate your location in your own faith “pool.” Are you wading safely in the shallows or exploring the freedom of the depths? No matter where you’re at, you can jump confidently into Jesus’ outstretched arms. From the edge, hear his promises: “Jump in! I’ll catch you! I’ll keep you safe! Trust me!”

Office & Church Closure The Parish Office will be closed Monday, August 2nd. The Church will also be closed that day.

Health Alert! We have been contacted by the Coos County Health Department that someone who attended 8:00 am Mass on Sunday, July 18th has tested positive for Covid. There was a risk of exposure. If you have experienced any symptoms, even if they are minor, please call 541-266-6700 and select the COVID OPTION. We encourage anyone attending this Mass to get tested as a precaution. ~Thank you

Ministry Fair in September

Hopefully all the parish groups are working on their participation and presentation for the Ministry Fair. This fair lets everyone know what each parish group offers so they can choose to hopefully join one. The social events and fundraisers have been left “on hold” until next year when we’ll have the time to get everything organized.

The tentative date for our annual Holy Redeemer Parish Picnic and Ministry Fair is Sunday, Sept. 12th, 2021, after the second Mass. This will be the official re-opening of the parish hall. Everyone welcome. Come and get re-acquainted with your parish family. Food and beverages will be provided, no charge. More information will be forthcoming as we get closer to the date. If you have questions, contact Jim in the Religious Ed office. If you oversee one of our parish ministries, please plan on a table letting people know who you are and what you do. There will be no “potluck” items please. Call 541-756-0633, ext 5.

Still Using Caution Even though we are not filling the holy water fonts there is Holy water available upon request for your personal use. Check with office during office hours M-F 10am - 2pm. Also, we are still holding off on home visitations and disbursement of Holy Communion to those outside of regular Mass.

Annual Rummage Sale ! It is finally time again to clear out the items you no longer need or want. Time to get rid of those good, usable items that someone else might be able to use. The Altar Society will be having their fall

rummage sale on August 27th-28th. Donations will gladly be accepted starting Sunday, August 22nd from 12-2 p.m. until the sale. We will try to have someone at the hall during the week from 10 am-2pm each day. Please do NOT drop them off at the office or before the dates listed above. We are also looking for volunteers to help with the sale. If you are interested in helping, please call Deanna Chase @ 541-756-5872.

All in the Family Bill Keane, creator of the Family Circus cartoon strip, tells of a time when he was penciling one of his cartoons, and his son Jeffy asked, "Daddy, how do you know what to draw?" Keane replied, "God tells me." Jeffy said, "Then why do you keep erasing part of it?"

Hit the sack!

Sleep is a daily reminder from God that we are not God. Once a day God sends us to bed

like patients with a sickness. The sickness is a chronic tendency to think we are in control and that our work is indispensable. To cure us of this disease, God turns us into helpless sacks of sand once a day.

~John Piper

Military Prayer List

We have created a new permanent home for this list that covers those actively serving as well as those

who lost their lives while in the service. If you have someone to add or remove please contact the parish office at 541-756-0633, ext 2.
