7th grade math studentscompete at St. Joe's

The annual St. Joseph'sCollegiate Institute MathematicsContest was administered on March31 to seventh graders from areaschools. Almost 500 studentscompeted in this highly competitivemath contest, which has twodivisions: parochial/private andpublic schools. The test is designedto challenge the best student fromeach school.

The Middle School sent twoteams to compete against suchschools as Casey Middle, MillMiddle, Amherst Middle, HeimMiddle, East Aurora and Maryvale.Team A consisted of ChristianDommell, Dan Nagy, Dan Portik,Jonathan Crossley, Chris Heftkaand Lauren Angelo. Team Bconsisted of Drew Armusewicz,Bryan Mesmer, Jessica Labus, BradNamaste, Jason Sprague andStephen Pfetsch. We are very proudto announce that ChristianDommell, Dan Nagy, LaurenAngelo, Jessica Labus, BradNamaste and Stephen Pfetsch wonHonorable Mention trophies andDrew Armusewicz won SecondPlace trophy in the public school

division.Mrs. Flor, the Middle School

Advisor, commends the students forthe extra effort put forth to preparefor this contest. Mr. Cone, Middle

School Math Coordinator, addedhis congratulations and said, "Ourstudents have always done wellagainst area schools in thiscontest."

VISITING SIDWAY - Seventeen eighth grade students fromVeronica E. Connor Middle School visited a local Kindergarten class atSidway Elementary School. The eighth graders entertained and fed Ms.Cowan's kindergarten class. They cooked French toast, read stories andhad an Easter egg hunt with prizes. These Eighth Graders did this for acommunity service project for Mrs. Kronenwetter's Home and CareersClass.
