Examination of Conscience

I confess to almighty God

and to you, my brothers and sisters,

that I have greatly sinned,

in my thoughts and in my words,

in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,

through my fault, through my fault,

through my most grievous fault;

therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,

all the Angels and Saints,

and you, my brothers and sisters,

to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Psalm 31

Antiphon – Cantor the first time, then all; repeat antiphon after psalm.

Verses

In you, O Lord, I take refuge. *

Let me never be put to shame.

In your justice, set me free, *

hear me and speedily rescue me.

Be a rock of refuge for me, *

a mighty stronghold to save me,

for you are my rock, my stronghold. *

For your name’s sake, lead me and guide me.

Release me from the snares they have hidden *

for you are my refuge, Lord.

Into your hands I commend my spirit. *

It is you who will redeem me, Lord.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *

and to the Holy Spirit:

as it was in the beginning, is now, *

and will be for ever. Amen. (Antiphon)

Psalm 130

1Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD; 2Lord, hear my voice! O let your ears be attentive to the sound of my pleadings.

3If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand? 4But with you is found forgiveness, that you may be revered.

5I long for you, O LORD, my soul longs for his word. 6My soul hopes in the Lord more than watchmen for daybreak.

More than watchmen for daybreak, 7let Israel hope for the LORD. For with the LORD there is mercy, in him is plentiful redemption. 8It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *

and to the Holy Spirit:

as it was in the beginning, is now, *

and will be for ever. Amen.
