From the Desk of Fr. Bernie…

Thought for the Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time There are signs of salvation all around us, if we know how to read them. Our great high priest, Jesus Christ, has gained our redemption through his great sacrifice.

CELEBRATING OUR FAITH Solemnity of Christ the King

November 21, 2021 Daniel 7:13-14 Revelation 1:5-8 John 18:33b-37

Today’s solemnity, by which we close the liturgical year, reminds us that Christ is king and ruler of all. He is the firstborn of the dead in whom all power and authority has been invested. By our baptism we share in that holy and royal identity so that we might witness to his glory and kingship before the world.

THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS! Thank you to all the volunteers who cared for the Grotto gardens this year. The many hours of tilling, planting, weeding, and watering made all the gardens look beautiful!

th graders are working in teams to try to find ways

to make our school healthier. They are looking at nutrition, emotions and physical activity. They are working, also, to find ways for the whole school to work on physical health and finding healthy, nutritional snacks for the snack cart.

PRE-SCHOOL AND 4K CLASSES The classes have been exploring apples, pumpkins and changes in fall. They explored how the leaves change, how the weather changes, and what animals do to prepare for winter. They also compared pumpkins to apples by measuring them, tasting food items from each and looking at their insides!

THANK YOU VETERANS This past week, our students honored our veterans. The Dickeyville campus gathered for a remembrance of Veteran’s Day. The Kieler campus invited area veterans to Mass and a special program in the IC church on Veteran’s Day. We are very proud of all the veterans.

H.S. YOUTH GROUP GATHERINGS We are excited to welcome young adults from Xavier Mission Team (XMT) to our parishes for the 2021-2022 school year. XMT young adults will be leading youth group gatherings for students in 9

th-12

th grades from the area.

These high school nights will be held the first Wednesday of the month (November-May) for all area teens at Immaculate Conception Church, Kieler in the Parish Center from 7:30-9:00 pm. This is a perfect opportunity to connect with other Catholic teens from different parishes. Each night will include tons of fun, some inspiration and catechesis, discussion with small groups, and time in prayer. Bring a friend and join us for fellowship, faith and food!

DISCIPLE MAKER INDEX SURVEY The Diocese is asking all parishioners to complete the Disciple Maker Index Survey in conjunction with “Go Make Disciples.” This survey will provide you the opportunity to reflect on your own spiritual growth and provide feedback on the efforts of the parish to help you grow. This survey should take you between 10-15 minutes to complete. You can go online to complete this survey at: HG: https://portal.catholicleaders.org/d/kg8c62 IC: https://portal.catholicleaders.org/d/k4takk or you can find paper copies for you to complete in the back of the churches. The completed surveys can be dropped off at either parish office or mailed to your parish by Thursday, November 18, 2021. The survey online needs to be completed by Monday, November 22, 2021. TEC RETREAT COMING TO ST. DENNIS IN MADISON December 27-29, 2021 is our next TEC Retreat. It is the best Christmas present that you could ever give to yourself or a loved one. TEC (Together Encountering Christ) is centered on the Paschal Mystery of Christ. Our forward thinking Bishop has also centered his “Go Make Disciples” initiative on that same theme. It is an amazing experience for the young at heart who are 15 years of age or older. Regardless of your present walk in our Catholic Faith, you will be rejuvenated. This is also a ‘shout out’ to those of you who have already experienced a TEC retreat and would like to help with this one. Fr. Randy Timmerman is the Spiritual Director. Steve Davies is the lay Director and can be reached at [email protected] or 608.220.2088. Online or paper applications and more information can be found at www.madisondiocese.org/TEC or contacting Marie Lins at OEC at 608.821.3135.

HOLY GHOST PARISH BREAKFAST The Holy Ghost Parish November Breakfast will be held next Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 8:30 am-Noon in the Dickeyville campus school gym. IC CCW GIVING TREE HOLIDAY PROJECT Our wishes board is out this weekend. We have adopted three families and nursing home residents as we have done for many years. We will be providing gifts, Christmas dinner and extra food/paper products, etc. This project includes so many Immaculate Conception and Holy Ghost parishioners and their families’ who are contributing to make Christmas brighter for so many. This year we will be able to do the project as usual. Because of the shopping difficulties, we are beginning earlier. You can select one gift symbol or more if you would like. Purchase the item(s), include the receipt and wrap, if applicable. Please return the items to the IC Parish Center before 10:00 am on Sunday, December 12, 2021. Boxes will be available at the church entrances or items can be placed on the pews in the parish center. If shopping is a problem, money donations would also be appreciated for us to purchase the gift wishes. Please send monies to IC CCW (checks should be made payable to IC CCW), drop in the collection basket or mail to PO Box 57, Kieler, WI 53812 by December 5, 2021.
