Holy Family Council #8499
Adopt-a-Baby Program
We need your help to save these
babies!!
To help stop the anti-life push in Canada and
around the world, the Knights of Columbus encourages the spiritual adoption of an
unborn child. Our parishioners have an opportunity to spiritually adopt and pray for
a baby who is in danger of being aborted. In Canada alone, approximately 95,000
babies lost their lives through abortion last year. What can we do to end this horrible
statistic - WE CAN PRAY!
Your prayers CAN make a difference between whether a baby will be born...or
aborted. We are asking our parishioners at Holy Family Parish to make a personal
commitment to pray for one unborn child who is in danger of being aborted. You are
asked to “Spiritually Adopt” this one unknown baby for the next nine months.
Please pray daily, that the baby will be carried to term and experience the fullness
of life - a life that our Heavenly Father gave them. So we are asking you, our
parishioners to sign a pledge to your self committing that you or your family will
pray daily for the spiritually adopted baby for the next nine months. Pledge Sheet
located in the narthex. You can use this prayer or your own:
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life
of the unborn baby whom I have spiritually
adopted who is in danger of abortion.
You can name your baby if you wish “__________________________."

Our Parish Dome is in Need of Some Much Needed Repair & T.L.C.
Holy Family Parish was constructed in 1964 and has served our parish family well.
However 51 years has taken its toll on the exterior, specifically the dome. On June 30th, an
investigation was done to determine the extent of the deterioration of the dome. We’ve shared
a few photos that show some of the findings.
Your Parish Council will be keeping us all up to date on costs and options that will be
available for our membership’s consideration in the near future. As a parish family. we will
face this challenge together as a family.
Here are just a few preliminary estimates:
Replacement of the roof membrane: $80,000
Replacement/repair of the wood framing: $40,000
Miscellaneous Flashing: $20,000
Set up, taking down and rental of
Scaffolding: $90,000
Replacement of existing windows: $130,000
Total $360,000
Roof membrane and
insulation deteriorated
Hole in the roof of
the north dome
Please remember to give
generously to our Parish
Maintenance Fund.
Some options available to us are:
1. Replace and repair the dome to the
original design.
2. Replace/repair and modify/shorten
the dome.
These are the options/choices that
your Parish Council will explore
and get cost estimates. No final
decisions will be taken before
consulting all the members of our
Parish Family. Please pray that the Holy
Spirit guide and assist our
Parish Council in their
research and deliberations.

THE PHILIPPIAN FAST
On November 14, forty days before Christmas, the Church begins to prepare for the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord. During these forty days, we prepare to celebrate the coming (therefore Advent, which means coming or arrival) of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, into this world. Many faithful people had waited a long time for the coming of Jesus. During this long period of time, God spoke to prophets and instructed them how He wanted His people to prepare for the coming of His Son. He told them that they need to repent, change their way of living, make peace with one another, care for each other, and be obedient and faithful to God. Similarly, every year during this forty-day period we are invited to prepare in like manner as we await Christ’s arrival.

STANDARD TIME: Don’t forget Daylight Savings Time Ends November 1st.
Set your clocks back one hour Saturday night before you go to bed.
Being a Church Volunteer at Holy Family Parish - Why it’s Important Do you want to know what really keeps a church alive and prosperous? Many people would say
that it is the Parish Priest. Yes, the Parish Priest is important, however church volunteers are the
lifeblood of any church.
Take a minute and just think about it. It takes a lot of work to make a Holy Family Church
function. Without the efforts of our dedicated volunteers that many if not all the events such as
perogy suppers, senior’s dance, our harvest dance, catechism program and our liturgical
ministries just to name a few would fall apart. They cannot do it alone!
There are some people that just come to church Sunday after Sunday and they never make any
type of contribution. They take more than they give. These people are taking advantage of the
church. People take and they take, but they never give back.
No matter what your God given gift or aptitude, there are plenty of ways for you to get involve
and volunteer. You don’t need to make a life commitment to help with events just a couple of
hours would make a difference in our parish. Every role may not be glamorous, but every role is
important to the development of a vibrant parish.
People often think that volunteering in church is a huge time commitment. That is not necessarily
the truth. Your service doesn’t have to be an ongoing thing. You can serve on a rotational basis
and still make an impact.
Getting involved is as simple as opening your mouth. If you see an area you want to participate
in, find the person in charge and say something. Let them know from the beginning how much
time you able to commit. There is a spot for you.
If you want to see Holy Family Parish grow and prosper, then we encourage you to volunteer and
give your time. Your church does so much for you spiritually and sometimes personally. Start
giving your time and you’ll begin to see God blessings to you and our church.
What are your thoughts about volunteering at Holy Family Parish? Do you think that there are
more people at you church who need to help out?

Pre-Authorized
Debit Program
We wish to remind everyone that you may sign up for pre-authorized giving anytime of the year. Pre-Authorized Giving Program al lows parishioners to make their regular Sunday offering. The Program is an option, not a requirement. It is being widely used in many other parishes and we want to make the Program available to all parishioners who would like to take advantage of it. This is a very convenient way to support your parish even in your absence. Forms are available in the narthex. They can be brought to the parish of f ice. or mai led. A l l i n fo rmat i on i s s t r i c t l y confidential.
