Condos I & II

There were not enough unit members present in person or by proxies to hold our annual meeting on February 10, 2012; however, we were able to hold our election for board members. The voting membership chose the following candidates to serve: Abe Ashkinazy, Efrain Campomenosi, Lawrence Fama, Angelo Galasso, Theodore Garber, Sherry Goldfinger, Jack Griswold, Jeanette McGee, Irene Parness, John Perrini, and Fran Short. Congratulations to all.

Our new board will serve until our next scheduled election, December 10, 2012.

Once each building’s roof has been completed, in an effort to protect the life expectancy of the roof and safety of the unit owners, roofs will be locked. Roof access will be under control of our security staff. All service contractors must go to the security staff located in the lobby of the clubhouse to show reason for their access to the roof (work order). The unit owner’s name, building number, and apartment number requesting service will be noted. Security staff will log in the contractors, who will record and hold their driver’s license or company identification until they return the key. Our maintenance staff will inspect the roof for any damage.

It is recommended that unit owners place allergy tablets in their air conditioners to prevent mold.

Our next scheduled March 2012 meetings will be held on the 7th & 21st of the month at 9:30 am in the office.

March is here, and it brings us Daylight Saving Time on the 11th, the holiday of Purim on the 14th, St. Patrick's Day on the 17th, and spring begins on the 20th. Our election meeting was well attended, and our president and board members are all set for another

term. We celebrated with light refreshments. Our full time sunshine lady is Phyllis Brackman (954-344-3942). Please advise her of cards to be sent from all of us for special moments. We have some proposals forthcoming for our community, so please make the effort to attend our board meetings to hear all about them. Please remember we have two (2)

recycling dumpsters in our community. One is located by building 1, and the other is at the end of building 7. We thank our special volunteers who keep our beautiful flowers and shrubs healthy and glorious for us. Belated happy birthday greetings go to

Sylvia Harris (February 4th) and to Ralph Loggia (February 18th. Also, happy birthday to David Belfer (March 8th) and Adriana Scalia (March 14th). A healthy, long life is wished for all of you. Wear your green on March 17th, and

For the joy of all of us who do not care for the five o'clock darkness, here is March with the promise of long beautiful evenings, the spring and the rain. To welcome the beginning of daylight saving time, we invite everyone to our lunch on March 11th at 1:00 pm in the Auditorium.

Health and happiness to all.

Daisy Barcelo

Shalom! Thank you to everyone who came to our last meeting. We had a few more new people who joined us. We had our usual

coffee and bagels, some good conversation, a few words in Yiddish, and even a few jokes.

We had some excellent entertainment! A singer by the name of Stan Broder. So good, that we gave him a standing ovation! Next month, besides our usual meeting on March 12, 2012 at 12 noon, I am trying to organize a little trip to the Coral Springs Center for the Arts. "My Mother's Italian, My

Father's Jewish and I'm in Therapy" is the show that we will be seeing. Anyone who is interested, please let me know.

Thank you to all my "helpers" who help me set up before our meeting. See you next month. Coffee and bagels and good entertainment will be waiting for you!

Be happy! Stay healthy. Zay Gezunt! Sherry Goldfinger

ST. PATRICK'S DAY

St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. He was born in Wales about AD385 and his given name was Maewyn. At age 16, being a pagan, he was sold into slavery. During his captivity he became a Christian and adopted the name of Patrick. After six years he finally escaped and went to Gaul where he studied in a monastery for the next twelve years. He had a calling to convert the pagans to Christianity. His desire also was to return to Ireland, and two years later he was appointed the Second Bishop of Ireland. He was later arrested several times, and escaping each time. His mission in Ireland lasted thirty years with success. He died on March 17, 461 AD.

His name day is now not only a holy day, but also a secular holiday. The shamrock, he said, was the 3-leaf explanation of the Trinity. The first U.S. celebration of Saint Patrick's Day was held in Boston in 1737. Wear something green and wish our dear Sherry a Happy Birthday on March 17th. No blarney, do you still remember Maureen O'Hara, Barry Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly, Andy Rooney, Jack Dempsey, and Irish Terriers? How about these old favorites: "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling," " Tura Lura Lura," and "It's a Long Way to Tipperary."

Of the 50 or so Irish toasts I have read, here are a few:

“Wherever you go and whatever you do, may the luck of the Irish be there with you!”

“May your troubles be less, and your blessings be more and nothing but happiness come through your door.”

“May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light, and may good luck pursue you each morning and night.”

“May the luck of the Irish lead to happiest heights, and the highway you travel be lined with green lights.”

“May your neighbors respect you, trouble neglect you, the angels protect you, and heaven accept you.” Joye Palmer

Doctor Humor, from Henry Shapiro

After having dinner with his wife, a doctor was settling in for the evening when the phone rang. "Joe, we need a fourth for poker," a familiar voice said.

"In that case," whispered the doctor, "I'll be right over."

As he was putting on his coat, his wife asked, "Is it serious?" "Quite serious," her husband replied. "There are three doctors there already."
