Andrew is a chef and culinary expert who travels the world in search of exotic dishes that most people would be utterly appalled by. This semester, we are going to join Andrew's quest in trying exotic, yet edible treats from around the world as we learn a brief history of each snack. Last month, we sampled chocolate covered crickets, and believe it or not, more than half of the group were brave enough to try them! This month, we are going to sample a southern favorite, fried pickles with a tangy remoulade sauce. For many families, another timeless tradition is driving around the old neighborhood and admiring the gorgeous light displays. The calendar will have twenty-five doors, each with a sweet treat and a holiday themed question behind it. Every morning, a different resident will open one door, eat the treat, and read the question out loud. Next, we will encourage everyone to share their answer or a special holiday memory. Chandra will open the first door at 11:00 am on Sunday, December 1st in the Activity Studio. The final door will open on Christmas Day- Wednesday, December 25th. Path to Well-Being Every October, the Fountains hosts two separate Halloween Costume Contests- one in the Gardens and another in the Inn. This year, we decided to switch things up a bit and combine the two. Well, what was meant to be an ordinary costume contest, turned into a huge Halloween parade, and our residents from the Gardens took center stage. Thanks to our new Memory Care Director, Shaheen O'Connell, every single resident from the Gardens had a costume. Shaheen worked day and night to make sure all of her residents looked like rock stars for this spooktacular event. We thank everyone for their hard work, support and enthusiasm. It was a Halloween that our residents, their families, and our staff will never forget. Thriving

DECEMBER 2019

The Inn

No matter how chaotic the

holiday season can be,

families all across America

still find the time to

celebrate their families

cherished traditions. Baking

cookies, trips to the mall,

holiday parties, trimming the

tree, gingerbread houses, hot

cocoa etc. These are all classic holiday traditions that could get

anyone into the holiday spirit. For many families, another

timeless tradition is driving around the old neighborhood

and admiring the gorgeous light displays. One evening this month,

we plan to recreate that childhood memory and take a ride around

our neighborhood in search of the best holiday display on the

block. But here's the kicker- in order to truly make it a nostalgic

experience, we're all going to wear our cozy winter pajamas. While

on the road, we will enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and sing along to

some iconic holiday carols. Talk about a blast from the past!

HolidayTraditions Just like neighborhood light

displays, the advent calendar is another

holiday tradition that has been around

since the early 1900’s. It is a great way

to get the whole family excited for their

upcoming holiday festivities. This

holiday season, we have decided to take

part in this timeless tradition, and make

our own advent calendar. The calendar

will have twenty-five doors, each with a

sweet treat and a holiday themed

question behind it. Every morning, a

different resident will open one door, eat

the treat, and read the question out loud.

Next, we will encourage everyone to

share their answer or a special holiday

memory. Chandra will open the first

door at 11:00 am on Sunday, December

1st in the Activity Studio. The final door

will open on Christmas Day- Wednesday,

December 25th.

Path to Well-Being

Every October, the Fountains hosts two separate Halloween Costume

Contests- one in the Gardens and another in the Inn. This year, we decided

to switch things up a bit and combine the two. Well, what was meant to be

an ordinary costume contest, turned into a huge Halloween parade, and

our residents from the Gardens took center stage. Thanks to our new

Gardens had a costume. Shaheen worked day and night to make sure all of

her residents looked like rock stars for this spooktacular event. We thank

everyone for their hard work, support and enthusiasm. It was a Halloween

that our residents, their families, and our staff will never forget.
