Accommodation Rate: $125 per night single/double/quad April 24, 2020 Reservations deadline is March 28, 2020 to receive the SCA Rate. By phone request “Schipperke Club Of America” group. Please call the hotel direct to make reservation. Pet deposit is $50.00 non-refundable for up to 6 dogs. Dogs must be crated at all times. There will be outdoor bathing and indoor grooming at the hotel. Hotel linens/towels are not to be Used on dogs. Owners must supply their own towels. The hotel will designate a dog exercise area. All dogs must be removed from the show site immediately after completion of show. No dogs will be allowed in restrooms. NO BABY STROLLERS WILL BE ALLOWED IN SHOW ROOM. GROOMING & ELECTRICITY Grooming is located in the Roberts Centre Please note that there is to be no grooming or bathing of dogs in the rooms per SCA’s contract with the Holiday Inn at the Roberts Centre. The grooming set up will be available At 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 18th. EVERYONE IS EXPECTED TO FOLLOW THESE IMPORTANT RULES! 1. Extension cords must be plugged directly into an electrical outlet placed by the hotel. 2. ABSOLUTELY NO GROOMING IN YOUR HOTEL ROOM. 3. Minimum 14-gauge extension cords are required for electrical service. 4. Premises MUST be vacated by 10:00 pm on Friday, April 24. 5. If you plan to leave dogs unattended in your setup, a phone number that you can be reached at must be visibly posted in your setup in case of emergency. SMSC Southern Michigan Schipperke Club Regional Specialty # 1 FASTCAT –ALL BREED SMSC Southern Michigan Schipperke Club Regional Specialty # 2 Obedience and Rally (Monday, April 20, 2020) SCA Schipperke Club of America National Specialty (Tuesday, April 21 - Friday, April 24, 2020) A week-long event hosted by the SCA in conjunction with the SMSC. All events will be held at the Host Hotel. Additional information can be found on the Show Information page.

If your dog soils the parking lot or show grounds, it is your re-sponsibility to clean up after it. By signing the entry form at this show you are agreeing that all clean-up is your responsibility.

Violators may be subject to an event committee hearing.

Exhibitors, please, if you see an area that has not been cleaned up, notify a show official immediately. Thank you.

There will be no space provided for unentered dogs at this show.

Exhibitors and handlers will be responsible for clean conditions in and around their crates and are expected to comply with all Club rules as laid out and enforced by the three Schipperke clubs. Damage to hotel or show grounds property will be subject to Show Committee Hearing and action.

CLEAN-UP IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

Novice class: For junior handlers aged 9-17 who, at the time entries close, have not won three first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Junior Show-manship class at a licensed or member show.

Open class: For junior handlers aged 9-17 who, at the time entries close, have won three first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Junior Show-manship class at a licensed or member show.

Master class: For junior handlers aged 9-17 who, at the time entries close, have won the 10 first place wins in an Open class with competition to be eligible to enter the Limited Class Competition. The calendar for this class will be November 1 - October 31 of the following year. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to complete for the following year.

PLEASE NOTE: Juniors must include their AKC Junior Handler number on the entry blank. Be sure all information for Junior Showmanship Classes is entered on the front and back of the entry form. Dogs shown in Junior Showmanship may have Full or Limited AKC registration or have an ILP/PAL number. Altered animals are eligible to be shown, but bitches in season are not eligible.

Any exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create unnecessary disturbances or repeatedly engage in unsafe of disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the Show Committee, be asked to leave the show site. The clubs, hotel, and any of their agents or employees will assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors or handlers, or to any of their dogs or property, & further assume no responsibility for injury to children. The Schipperke Club of America, Inc and The Southern Michigan Schipperke Club do not agree to arbitrate claims as set forth on the Official AKC entry form for this event. RINGSIDE: Dogs may arrive at any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused. Judges will not wait for any dog. Owners and agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs at ringside when their class is called. The club, judges, stewards, and secretary have no obligation or responsibility to an-nounce for or locate dogs that are not at ringside when required. Exhibitors should follow their Veterinarians’ recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external para-sites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. If dogs are left in unattended closed vehicle, the owner will be paged. If there is no immediate response to this page, vehicle windows may be broken! All persons attending this dog show hereby waive any claim for damages against South-ern Michigan Schipperke Club and The Schipperke Club of American, Inc. or their member, in the event a motor vehicle must be entered to rescue a dog from overheating or suffocation due to improper ventilation. Dogs/Bitches (may be altered) shown with two of their offspring. Class is judged on the merits of the offspring, but the parent will be examined for DQs/

excusals. Offspring must be entered in a regular conformation class.

Entry is made for the Stud Dog or Brood Bitch - offspring are not entered on the entry form.

Brace Class For two dogs, regardless of sex, performing in unison and presented by one handler.

Both dogs in each Brace must have at least on common owner. Entrants need not be entered in any other class but each must be on a separate entry form.

Champions of record and altered dogs may be entered.

Puppy Sweepstakes Puppy Sweepstakes is open to all Schipperkes who are 6 months but less than 18 months old

on the day of the sweepstakes. Dogs must also be entered in a regular class. Puppy Dogs, 6 mos. & under 9 mos. Puppy Bitches, 6 mos. & under 9 mos.

FUTURITY The purpose of the Futurity is to encourage the breeding of the best possible Schipperkes and to reward the breeders for their efforts. Prize monies are therefore divided between the owners and the breeders. The 2020 Futurity stake is for any properly nominated and entered Schipperke that is at least six months old on the date of the Futurity competition and that has not been eligible for any previous Futurity Stakes. MATURITY The Maturity is designed to be educational and a complement to the Futurity. By bringing back the previous Futurity nominees and showcasing them as adults, breeders will have the opportunity to see not only how individual dogs have developed, but also how particular bloodlines grow and mature. The Maturity is for adult dogs that came for nominated litters. They need not have been shows in the Futurity but must have been part of a Futurity nominated litter. Owners of eligible dogs will have the right to enter those dogs. Please contact current Futurity Chair for eligibility.

Best in Maturity winners will not be eligible to compete in future Maturity events. Entrants need not be entered in the regular classes and may be altered. Indicate the Maturity class, with age division, in the space provided for Additional Classes on the entry form.

Maturity Challenge Classes –open to all qualified dogs and bitches that were Futurity eligible the immediately preceding National Specialty to eight years old. Classes divided by sex.

Maturity Class 1-Open to dogs and bitches that were Futurity eligible immediately Preceding National Specialty and under four years old on the date of the event.

Maturity Class 2-Open to dogs and bitches that are four years old and under six years old on the date of the event.

Maturity Class 3-Open to dogs and bitches that are six years old and under eight years old on the date of the event.

Any Schipperke that has been placed in its home through a rescue organization, animal Shelter, SPCA, etc. May be entered in the Parade of Rescues. The entry form must

indicate “Parade of Rescues.”

Parade of Veterans Any Schipperke that is 7 years or older, regardless of titles, may be entered in the Parade

of Veterans. A special goodie bag will be given to each Veteran. The entry form must indicate “Parade of Veteran.”

For all Parades: Parade entries are $18.00 each and are to be sent to the Show Secretary on the show entry form. In addition, a description of the dog’s achievements will be read while the dog is presented. A brief owner-provided biography (100 words or less, please) must be sent to Leisl Shagen at [email protected] or mailed to 2548 N. Dana Ct., Wasilla, AK 99623. Entries and biographies must be received by the closing date of March 13.

Please Note: Club will refund entry fees (less $10 administrative fee) for bitches entered in Obedience or Rally that come in season after entries close and notification is presented in writing no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the Obedience judging or at the Superintendent’s desk. Qualifying Score Required for All Prizes in the Regular or Optional Titling Classes. “Dog” means either sex. All Obedience & Rally entries must include Class Division (A or B). Obedience entries in classes with jumps & Rally entries in Advanced and Excellent classes MUST INCLUDE DOG’S JUMP HEIGHT. Classes with jumps will be judged in ascending height order beginning at 4”.

Master Class Novice Class - shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who at the time entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class. A first place in Novice without competition leading to a Best Junior award with competition would count as one win towards moving to Open at a licensed or member show. Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class with competition, if a win in Novice leads to a Best Junior with competition present it will count as one win towards moving to Open, after the closing of entries for a show are required to transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class by notifying the Superintendent or Show Secretary prior to the judging of the class at the show. Open Class - shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who have won three (3) first place awards in a Novice Class or if a win in Novice leads to a Best Junior with competition present it will count as one win towards moving to Open in a licensed or member show. Master Class - will be for boys & girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have won 10 Best Junior wins with competition. The calendar for this class will be consistent with the eligibility dates for the AKC National Championship. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and must change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to complete for the following year.

No entry may be changed or cancelled unless notice of the change or cancellation is received in writing by the Superintendent or Show Secretary named in the premium list to receive entries, prior to the closing date and hour for entries, except that a correction may be made from one age division to another, as well as, move from Master to Open or Open to Novice if a win has been disallowed or the Junior miscalculated number of placements, provided this transfer is made by the Superintendent or Show Secretary prior to the judging of the class at the show. This years Welcome Party will be held in the hospitality room. It will be a good time to get together with old friends and meet some new friends. WINNERS DOG – The Skipalong Challenge Trophy Tom, Kaitlyn and Dr. Mary Kraus, Dan, Peggy & Diane Ramsey, offer through the Schipperke Club of America, open to all exhibitors, the Skipalong Challenge Trophy in honor of Francis Griggs & Phyllis Kerchiel for Winners Dog at the SCA National Specialty beginning in 2011. This trophy is a bronze Danny Quest Schipperke figurine on a wooden base with a plaque to be engraved with the name of the winning dog, the name of the owner and the year won.

CANADIAN EXHIBITORS MUST SUBMIT ENTRIES WITH CHECKS DRAWN ON U.S. ACCOUNTS OR WITH INTER-NATIONAL MONEY ORDERS IN U.S. FUNDS.

A Recording Fee of 50 cents for each dog and an AKC Event Service Fee of $3.00 will be required for each recordable single entry class at any Licensed or Member Club Show or Obedience Trial. (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 2). A $3.50 AKC Recording Fee will be required for the first entry in Rally and $3.00 for each additional entry in Rally. (American Kennel Club Rally Regulation, Chapter 1, Section 5). A $2.00 Event Service Fee will be required for each entry in 4-6 Month Beginner Puppy. $2.00 Event Service Fee will be required for each entry in FSS Open Shows. These Fees are paid to the American Kennel Club.

RETURNED CHECKS / INVALID CREDIT CARDS do not constitute a valid entry. The Show Secretary will add a collection fee of $40 to the amount of each returned check and credit card. Subsequent returned checks and credit card from the same exhibitors may result in their being put on a cash-only basis. Entry Fee will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or judge, or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee.

No entry fees will be refunded if the Show cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturb-ances, fire, extreme and or dangerous weather conditions, an Act of God, public emergency, act of public enemy, strikes or any other cause beyond the control of the Club or the Superintendent.

No Refund for Duplicate Entries. Every effort to find all duplicate entries will be made; however, if entry has been processed, no refund will be made.

Refunds made for cancellation of entries before the closing date will be subject to a $3.00 administrative/processing fee per entry.

No Entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. Changes, additions or corrections to entry forms must be received in writing prior to close of entries. Those received by telephone are not acceptable.

Dogs need be present only for scheduled judging and will be released if not needed for further judging. Dogs must be ready for judging. Neither the club nor the Superintendent will be responsible or obligated to furnish any service for notifying exhibitors or their agents of Breed or Class judging. Judges need not wait for any dog holding up the class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings.

Exhibitors should follow their veterinarian’s recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases and have appropriate vaccinations.

The show giving club, the Superintendent, their agents, employees, etc., assume no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by exhibitors or handlers to any of their dogs or property, and further assume no responsibility for injury to children. PUBLICATION RIGHTS By entering this show, all owners, handlers, breeders and kennels agree that all rights to televise, videotape, photograph, advertise, promote and publicize or otherwise exploit this show, or the persons or animals participating in it or the results of the competition before, during or after the event, shall belong solely to The American Kennel Club and their respective assigns, including the use of the names, likenesses or biographical matter of all dogs, owners, handlers, breeders and kennels participating in the show and no such owner, handler, breeder or kennel shall allow any other party to make commercial use of any videotape or photograph of any person or animal participating in this competition.

I (WE) AGREE THAT ANY CAUSE OF ACTION, CONTROVERSY OR CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE ENTRY, EXHIBITION OR ATTENDANCE AT THE EVENT BETWEEN THE AKC AND THE EVENT-GIVING CLUB (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED IN ITS PREMIUM LIST) AND MYSELF (OURSELVES) OR AS TO THE CONSTRUCTION, INTERPRETATION AND EFFECT OF THIS AGREEMENT SHALL BE SETTLED BY ARBITRATION PURSUANT TO THE APPLICABLE RULES OF THE AMERICAN ARBITRATION ASSOCIATION. HOWEVER, PRIOR TO ARBITRATION ALL APPLICABLE AKC BYLAWS, RULES, REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES MUST FIRST BE FOLLOWED AS SET FORTH IN THE AKC CHARTER AND BYLAWS, RULES, REGULATIONS, PUBLISHED POLICIES AND GUIDELINES.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. (Variety) if you are entering a dog of breed in which there are varieties for show purposes, please designate the partic-ular variety you are entering, i.e., Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, parti-color), Beagles (not exceeding 13 in., over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.), Dachshunds (longhaired, smooth, wirehaired), Collies (rough, smooth), Bull Terriers (colored, white), Manchester Terriers (standard, toy), Chihuahuas (smooth coat, long coat), English Toy Spaniels (King Charles and Ruby, Blenheim and Prince Charles), Poodles (toy, miniature, standard).

2. The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record and dogs which, according to their owners’ records, have completed the requirements for a championship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirements for a championship.

3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering your dog is divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering your dog, i.e., age division, color division, weight division.

4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any event for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certifi-cate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. State on entry form whether transfer application has been mailed to the AKC. (For complete rules, refer to Chapter 11, Section 3.)

5. Mixed Breed dogs entering classes for Agility, Obedience. and Rally trials should mark Breed as AKC Canine Partners Listed Dog “All American Dog/Mixed Breed.” Variety, Breeder, Sire, Dam information shall remain blank for mixed breed entrants.
