Not satisfied with the other squid imitators on the market, the angler decided that thelarge profile of the 10 and 14 inch Hogy® Original was nearly identical to the large local squid the striped basswent bonkers for. With a few quick modifications and some yankee ingenuity, the Hogy® Squidbert was born,and soon became the secret weapon of top anglers in the region.

Tandem Rigging

Soft Circle HookRigging our Soft-Circlehooks is about as easyas it gets. Simply screw

the Bait Keeper intothe center of the noseof the soft bait until it issnug* with the hook.

Insert one hook into the nose of the bait and pass all the way through thehead and out into hook groove, about 1 inch.

Insert your lead hook, following the same path Finish rigging by insertingthe rear hook into the as your first hook. Adjust line so that it’s parallelto the hook shank and not twisted. Just the hook eye should be protrudingfrom the nose of the bait.

Finish rigging by inserting the rear hook into the body of the lure at the farend of the hook groove and out the special indentation that ensures properhook placement. Adjust hooks so that they are running straight.

Hogy® Swimming TinsTRADITIONAL: The easiest way to rig the Hogy® Swimming Tin is toslide the nose of the bait right onto the tin itself. There are two gripbarbs designed for holding the bait

WEEDLESS: Our preferred method. Attach the optional bait keeperto the center rigging eye for a weedless presentation.

This rigging option will also INCREASE the wobble presentation of thesoft bait. Just twist the bait keeper in and the embed hook in body

Hogy® Jig HeadsPlace the jighead on topof the soft bait so you canvisualize where the hookshould enter and exit thebait. Mark the spot withthe point of the hook ifnecessary.

Slowly slide the jigheadinto the soft bait,making sure to runstraight through the bait.

Push the hook throughthe marked area on thetop, and pull the nose ofthe bait flush with thejighead. Apply a smallamount of glue if desired.

Rotate bait onto bait keeper

Line up hook and note where it willenter and exit the bait.

Insert hook and adjust bait so that itis straight. Bury the hook point sothat it cannot pick up weeds.
