Hoffman letter - May 20

Dear Supporter, Over the past 48 hours there have been exciting developments across America and right here in New York's 23rd Congressional District. They revolve around the TEA PARTY movement and the fact that it is changing the landscape of American politics one primary at a time.  Rand Paul's "blow out" victory in the Kentucky GOP primary has sent a message that has shaken the political establishment to its roots. He proved that the voters are no longer going to allow the political bosses to hand-pick their nominees. Americans are sick and tired of the backroom deals and cronyism that club-house politics is based on and the fact that the party bosses seem intent on doing what is good for their personal political interests as opposed to what is good for America.  In Kentucky, Tea Party activists played a key role in rallying voters which resulted in a record number of grassroots Republicans turning out to vote against the hand-picked candidate of the GOP bosses.  Yesterday, I was honored to receive the endorsement of the Upstate New York Tea Party (UNYTEA). These New Yorkers understand that, just like in Kentucky, the GOP bosses are trying control the political process. Last year, the GOP bosses anointed ultra-liberal Dede Scozzafava as their candidate. You all know how that turned out! She endorsed the Democratic candidate Bill Owens less than 48 hours before the polls opened and many feel it cost me the election.  Well, they're using the same tired playbook again this year. This time the bosses are backing Matt Doheny and are saying he is a "conservative Republican". I've always believed that actions speak louder than words and the Federal Election Commissions reports shows that on October 10, 2009, Doheny gave the maximum contribution allowed by law to Dede Scozzafava's campaign. Keep in mind this was weeks after conservative groups like the American Conservative Union PAC, Club for Growth PAC, Citizens for the Republic PAC had endorsed my candidacy and then this year we find out that he also supports abortion! Matt Doheny supports abortion and Dede Scozzafava too......that sure doesn't sound like a conservative Republican to me! That's why we must take back the Republican Party from the political bosses and that's why I need your help now. Matt Doheny has a lot of money. He made it down in New York City working on Wall Street.  As you know I'm from Main Street, not Wall Street. And, while I may not have as big a bank account

Dear Supporter,

Over the past 48 hours there have been exciting developments across America and right here in NewYork's 23rd Congressional District. They revolve around the TEA PARTY movement and the fact that itis changing the landscape of American politics one primary at a time.

Rand Paul's "blow out" victory in the Kentucky GOP primary has sent a message that has shaken thepolitical establishment to its roots. He proved that the voters are no longer going to allow thepolitical bosses to hand-pick their nominees. Americans are sick and tired of the backroom deals andcronyism that club-house politics is based on and the fact that the party bosses seem intent on doingwhat is good for their personal political interests as opposed to what is good for America.

In Kentucky, Tea Party activists played a key role in rallying voters which resulted in a record numberof grassroots Republicans turning out to vote against the hand-picked candidate of the GOP bosses. Yesterday, I was honored to receive the endorsement of the Upstate New York Tea Party (UNYTEA).

These New Yorkers understand that, just like in Kentucky, the GOP bosses are trying control the

political process. Last year, the GOP bosses anointed ultra-liberal Dede Scozzafava as theircandidate. You all know how that turned out! She endorsed the Democratic candidate Bill Owens lessthan 48 hours before the polls opened and many feel it cost me the election.

Well, they're using the same tired playbook again this year. This time the bosses are backing MattDoheny and are saying he is a "conservative Republican".

I've always believed that actions speak louder than words and the Federal Election Commissionsreports shows that on October 10, 2009, Doheny gave the maximum contribution allowed by law toDede Scozzafava's campaign. Matt Doheny supports abortion and Dede Scozzafava too......that sure doesn't sound like aconservative Republican to me!

That's why we must take back the Republican Party from the political bosses and that's why I needyour help now.

Matt Doheny has a lot of money. He made it down in New York City working on Wall Street.

As you know I'm from Main Street, not Wall Street. And, while I may not have as big a bank account

as Matt Doheny, I do have the support of average Americans like you.

The Upstate New York Tea Party committed their support to me yesterday. Won't you join in thatcommitment to take back our Congress and our nation by sending me a donation of $25, $50, or $100today.
