Task 1

You are required to identify a school and then interview a teacher on the roles of the

school as an educational institution. Using either the functional or conflict theory,

discuss the roles of the school as an educational organization. Focus your discussion on

the functions, professionals, bureaucratic aspects, growth and control of schools.

(60 marks)

Task 2

Based on your interview, using either the functional or conflict theory, discuss the power

dynamics in the classroom. Your essay should encompass teacher–student

relationships, classroom interactions, teachers’ coping strategies, teaching and learning

processes and classroom climate.

(40 marks)
